Are there things you currently own which you've sworn off for the future? I realized today that those thin, flat knit, spring style cardigans do nothing for me. I'm a rectangle and I always feel self-consciously straight and thin in them. From now on I'll look for cardigans with a little bulk, a belt, detailing or shaping.

Over to you, anything currently in your closet which you'll weed out and never replace in the same form?

No more shoes that don't stay on my feet! I've finally weeded all of them out, and everything that's left has some kind of strap (or is a boot or tennis shoe), and a couple casual flip flops. No open topped pumps or flats for me!

Also crew necks. I think I'm entirely free of those too. Never again.

I'm just about ready to swear off cardigans in general, but I know for sure I' done with the ones that button all the way up. With my large bust, jackets/cardies with a low stance and few buttons work infinitely better.

Long-sleeved tees. I kept buying them and not wearing them... I figured out it's more practical -- and fashionable -- to layer instead of just going with a long-sleeved tee. Out with 'em all!

I no longer buy kitten heels or mules (the shoes, not the actual animals, although I wouldn't buy them either...) because they sit in my closet and I don't wear them.

No more tees, shoes that slip off my feet, no more sleeveless (at least temporarily), no more acrylic anything, no more skirts without appropriate tops.

I am actually working on stretching my boundaries and trying new things, so I never say never.

Right now I think I am going to try to avoid the sweatshirts and the pink for awhile, as well as overtly girly blouses and orphan skirts.

No more t-shirts of any kind, no matter how much I think that the color redeems them or how well I think they'll work for layering. They just aren't flattering on me. Except maybe for a graphic tee or two if I can find the right ones.

Cascading, ruffled cardigans. I have a few that I finally found that are flattering, but in general it's just not a good look for me. They fall in-between too-casual for the office and too-much for weekends, so they get limited use.

No more wearing shoes and clothing that are well past their prime. No more wrap dresses, although wrap tops seem to work most of the time. No more wide scooped necklines that reveal nothing but bony chest.

Ditto on the mules. They slap against your feet when you walk (or maybe I just don't know how to handle them!). Either way, they are a big no for me. I've also sworn off (thanks to Angie) cap sleeves and buying orphan skirts.

Oh - and also the much-ballyhooed "crisp white shirts" ... the ones with collars and cuffs and buttons up the front that are supposed to be such wardrobe staples. Not for meI I am *never* comfortable in one.

There's just some thing about the collar around my neck, and the points under my chin, and the bunching up above the waist, and the general *argh get me outta this!* feeling whenever I've worn one. =:-O

Deb, I feel exactly the same way! Especially in white, but any kind of collared button-down starts me twitching like I'm strait-jacketed.

Shoes or sandals with no back strap or back support. These fall off my feet and I've twisted too many ankles in them (I walk fast).

No more whites of any sort - tees, shirts, coats. Either pure or off-white, they look terrible on me.
Uncomfortable shoes, too tight jeans and turtle necks, they have all found their way out of my closet.

No more clothes from Forever 21. The time has come for me to accept that juniors clothing is not going to fit me properly anymore. I think I will probably also steer clear of banded bottom tops from now on, which is unfortunate because there are so many cute ones out there right now.

I finally got rid of all my old, ill-fitting t-shirts and ratty jeans so I wouldn't have the temptation to wear them out. Then as I was getting ready to dye my hair at home last night I realized I had no junk clothes to wear. Good thing hubby has plenty of junk clothes xD

I successfully bought nothing black for 6 years and only then finally reached a balance of black and color in my wardrobe. My new endeavor is no item colored beige, taupe, tan, sand, gray, or any other name by which those pallid neutrals are called.

I realized when I was preparing for the swap last month that I was getting rid of every single one of my beige blazers (3). The color just washes me (everyone?) out, and instead of serving their touted purpose of a versatile workhorse, they just sit in the closet.
