I went right for a pair of wedges sooner than I expected to- they are strappy black patent Donald Pliners:

I'm assuming since they're patent and strappy, they're suitable for wearing to weddings (I hope?). The nice thing is that I can walk in them (and presumably dance in them)!
The look of wedges are a bit of an adjustment for me, but I certainly like the wearability.
