New denim jacket - thoughts?

Today I decided to brave Macy's and bought a denim jacket. Do you think the fit is OK? It's from the juniors department, and I am a little unsure.

(yes, those are the new microchecks, and sorry about the t-shirt that is too short... imagine a longer top)
The dress on the first picture is going back - now I think it's too short. Am I right? What about overall silhouette for me:

I think the jacket looks great over the dress i'm not sure about over the trousers hopefully someone else will sing out about that. I think the dress looks great, if you're unsure about the length perhaps try leggings under it x

I think the fit of the jacket is okay but could be a bit mire cinched at the waist, I love the cropped size.

I love the pants on you.
That dress is amazing!! You have such great legs, I do not think it is too short but if you are uncomfortable maybe leggings would be an option. The silhouette is perfect. You would also look great in a sheath dress. I do not know what style dress you would not look great in!

I agree with GG and LouLou, that dress looks soooo good on you, not too short to my eye, but as they say...leggings if you are more comfy.

I like the denim jacket as well, and I do love the silhouette!:)

Both the denim jacket and the dress look great to me! Maybe try a size smaller in the jacket, just to see what it looks like.

I actually really like everything, including the dress. I don't think I would change a thing (well, except the too short tshirt, but you already knew that, hehe).

KILLER dress, Marianne. Don't you dare return it! Add a pair of grey or black leggings and your green ballet flats and Bob’s your uncle. It will look great over skinny jeans too – white and blue. AND it looks great as a mini dress. Wooohooo! I’m so excited! Marianne is successfully trying new things and looks fabulous :0)

Aww ladies, thank you! I was ready to return the dress without any doubts and I wasn't even going to post a picture (I should have taken a better one :)). I so rarely shop for dresses and I haven't bought one in ages. At the store I did try it over jeans so I didn't notice the length issue. Your approvals also make me feel more confident about shopping at Macy's, which is great, because it's really budget-friendly with all their promos, I just need to learn to filter through their stuff. And leggings - yes, that's something I meant to try but didn't have the top part

I did try sizing down in the jacket, but it looked like I'm bursting out of it, at least to me. I have to remember to bring a camera next time I am shopping.

Angie, sorry for unrelated question - are these microchecks specifically spring pants or can they be worn in the fall/winter? With boots under?

Yes yes -- dress is definitely a keep. I don't think it's too short at all. It looks like a really cute, versatile piece. I also love your jacket and microcheck pants!

That dress is perfect, and you definitely have the legs to wear it as is (but it will look great with leggings or jeans too). Such an amazing find!

I like the denim jacket very much too and those microcheck trousers fit you perfectly as well.

Thank you very much, you guys are so encouraging! The dress is really growing on me. I might attempt a set of one-dress-4-ways pictures (Angie style).
And I bought a pair of leggings today!
Thanks Angie, I was wondering about the pants because there is so much white in the pattern. They are quite a statement for me, but I thought I'd attempt to incorporate them into my wardrobe.

That dress is just fine as is, but adding leggings might make you more comfortable while running around with the kids. Great jacket, great microchecks. I'm trying to remember a time when I saw you in something you didn't look amazing in and I'm drawing a blank.

You've already acquired one great pair of pants for fall!
