New Beige - correction: "Oyster" - Coat

Is the color "soul sucking?" Does it look big? I love the slight sheen (which is emphasized by my flash) and the collar. The fabric reads as slightly pearlescent IRL; sort of a coated canvas fabric. I tried a Medium on in-store and it was too tight in the hips, so I had them send me the Large. If this one doesn't pass muster I'll be back on the hunt.

It is very pretty but a little bit big IMO. If you super love it I'd have a tailor take a look at the sleeves and the extra fabric at the sides.

Oh my gosh - what a beautiful coat on you Jeneva! I love the sheen and the waist detail. I'm not sure I'd have any tailoring done to it - you want a bit of room to layer a blazer underneath.

I have only a button-down under it in this photo. It's a light-weight coat, and I do often wear a blazer under my coats in spring/fall, so I'll wait before I decide to tailor it. I'm pretty lazy about such things, so likely it's going to stay just how it is. I do think it feels a bit big round the ribs, but it's probably fine enough for my needs. It will likely get worn open a lot of the time, anyway.

I like it! I don't usually like beige, nor do I like very shiny coats, but somehow the two work together here perfectly! I think it looks ever so slightly too loose up on top, but depends on how much you want to layer under it. How tight was the medium in the hips? Sometimes what works for me is if something is just a touch too tight across the hips, I move the bottom button out a little (you can usually move it around an inch without it looking crooked, in my experience). I did this with my black KC winter coat, actually, and it fits perfectly now.

Anna - I cannot believe your dad said that. I was thinking of it for the opera, too! You can give it a try when i see you and see if the color works for you...it might work nicely with your hair, or it might look like death. It's in black and red, too, FWIW:

I adore it on you. And what a smart purchase. It is always great to have a slightly dressy coat. Just look at Angie in those Japan wedding photos! This one can be dressed up and down I expect. And you shine in it!!

I like this one on you, for sure, since you have a edgy element to your style. Shiny trenches can look matronly on someone like me, for example, given that I'm more of a classic dresser. Just my humble .50 . Clearly that is not the problem here. I vote keep.
