Need opinions on some items!
http://s557.photobucket.com/al.....e%20items/
item 1 - pewter gladiator wedges. This was a trend that I thought I'd pass by - I don't have particularly fussy feet, but they are bony and I thought finding soft straps would be a pain. But I found these for insanely cheap AND they are 8 hour shoes! I kid you not, I wore these running around after the kids, grocery shopping, meetings, all day long! My question is - can I get away with these? Is the ankle strap flattering or does it stumpify? Should they be relegated to wearing with pants only?
item 2 - eggplant biker. I am in love with this jacket but I am completely willing to give it up. It's cropped and boxy - what on earth was I, ms. busty, thinking? I think this was an error - I think I loved the color and biker look so much I subconsciously decided to overlook that it's best left to someone less curvy. I think it's obvious I can't wear it zipped, even partially, but what about open? Is it worth keeping?
item 3 - dark grey microcheck waistcoat. I am holding it at the waist, because I need to get it taken in. I went up 2 sizes to fit my bust. Should I go ahead and get it altered? If it isn't a flattering shape, any ideas on what kind of waistcoat a curvy girl can wear? I am on the hunt for a girly top to wear underneath. I adore girly, ruffly, feminine tops but never buy them because of my bust - I'm really hoping I can get away with a frilly top by wearing it under a waistcoat.
item 4 - black wrap top with piping - is it worth keeping? It's too short for pants. If I keep it, any ideas of how I could wear it? (outfit ideas)
item 5 - white A-line skirt - too big now, but is it worth getting it taken in (that'll shorten it to the right length as well)?
items 6/7 - multi strand white pearl necklace. I am in love with this necklace- a dear friend gave it to me as a parting gift since we're leaving the Philippines soon. For a couple of years, I've worn only earrings. When I wore it, I didn't wear earrings - but that felt so odd. My question is, should I just get used to not wearing earrings with a bold necklace, or can I wear tiny pearl or diamond studs with it? I have a pixie haircut, so my ears are never covered by my hair.
Thanks in advance!

Asha, I don't feel very qualified to comment but at least I am in a similar timezone! You always look great
1. Shoes - I think it is hard to say if they "stumpify" without seeing your whole body but I thought from what we could see they looked fine.
2. I loved the colour on you but didn't warm to the style ( but that is just me personally, about the fabric, I think). But I though it looked nice partially done up
3 You look fabulous in that waistcoat - A real keeper
4 The top looks great - wonderful with the white skirt. might be good with yellow, any of the piping colours, raspberry red - I am sure others will have more ideas
5 Skirt is lovely and worth taking in - that is is you are willing to be a white skirt Mum with all the dangers of getting it dirty (I am not yet, but I am looking forward to it in a few years)
6. What a lovely necklace - reminds me of Angie's. I think tiny diamond studs would be fine if you didn't want to go earring - less. Maybe not pearl though too matchy?
BTW I meant to respond to one of your earlier posts when you mentioned that you are tandem feeding. I wanted to do that with my last baby but ended up weaning 4 months into the pregnancy owing to sore nipples. Does it work well for you?
1) I love those sandals i'd definately keep especially if they are 8 hours ones they are so difficult to find,
2)I'm not sure about the jacket so will chicken out of commenting and see what everyone else says!
3)The waistcoat appears to define your shape well,
4)I love the top on you it looks lovely with the white skirt,
5)I'd wear simple stud earrings with the necklace, as it's so beautiful you don't want anything to draw attention away from it x
Asha - I like the shoes, and if they're 8-hour shoes, I would definitely keep them. My favorite outfit is the white skirt and the wrap top. The skirt is definitely worth altering, and I would love to have a wrap shirt like that. It's so flattering and cute and the right length for a skirt. The skirt seems very versatile.
I'm not a huge fan of the jacket because, like you I'm busty, and I tend to find more tailored styles more flattering. The color looks lovely on you though. As for the waistcoat, I'm going to leave that to someone else because I'm not that familiar with the style and am not sure how they are supposed to fit or look. I know what you mean about frilly blouses. They're definitely hard to come by for larger chest sizes.
Thanks for all your feedback ladies!
crwilson - the color plus the biker detail is what got me on the jacket. I definitely am on the look out for a more tailored piece with that detail, but I doubt I'll ever find one at this price. That's why I'm looking for opinions on this so I don't lead myself astray :)
Anne - tandem feeding has worked better than I ever imagined. I didn't really "want" to do it, but I knew my daughter wasn't ready to wean and I was committed to child-led weaning. I had the soreness too for a bit, but not bad, and for me it was outweighed by all the extra napping I could do while I breastfed. I get so exhausted during the 1st trimester! There have been so many benefits, but I'll just mention two - the first, transitioning from baby to older sister was so easy for my daughter - we never experienced the behavior most kids display when ousted from the baby position, and the second, increased immunity. Siblings share everything, including germs, and tandem feeding means the second one to get it either has a shortened duration of illness or never even shows symptoms. Extremely helpful when living in a third world country close to the Equator with poor water sanitation (which I had no idea would happen when I chose to tandem feed).
Asha,
I actually like the jacket, though I think you have to be careful when making an outfit. I think it could easily sway into tacky because of the material. But with dark wash jeans, with no fading or whiskering, simple sandals, and accesories, I think it's really cute. And the color if very flattering against your skin tone.
I agree with all the rest. The wrap top and white skirt are perfect! Def. worth tailoring, and I really like the waistcoat and white necklace.
1. Love the gladiator wedges - can you get me a pair too? You have slim ankles & legs so they don't stumify at all. I bet they would look awesome with your white pencil skirt too!
2. You know, I actually really like the biker jacket on you. I think you just have to be careful about not making it look too "juniors." I think wearing it unbuttoned over a different colored top - maybe navy or white with some dark wash or white jeans and heels could be a cool look.
3. I think you would look great in the right vest - I'm not sure if this is it. I wish the stance was higher or lower. It's hard to tell because you are having to hold it together but the buttons might be hitting at an awkward spot on your bust.
4. The wrap top - OMG, pure perfection on you! So flattering in every way! The skirt is cute too. You are a brave one wearing white on the bottom with little kids - can I tell you how many times I have worn white on the bottom and sat in ketchup or chocolate? But hey, that's what washing machines are for, right:)
5. I feel naked without earrings! If I am wearing a statement necklace I will wear some very simple earrings - diamond studs or a simple gold stud.
1. The gladiator look GREAT on you. Keep!
2. I agree with posters above: the jacket could work, but with different things underneath. Use as a statement/contrast piece instead of matching it, and I think it will work better.
3. Not crazy about the vest, but I'm not a vest person so my vote should be nulled. :)
4. The wrap top is AWESOME on you. So flattering, so pretty, so crisp and clean. I love it with the white skirt.
5. You can definitely wear the pearls with small earrings.
I am responding without having read any other comments:
1. Love the wedges, would wear with pants or dresses, skirts.
2. I think the biker jacket is hit or miss depending on other layers. I see it with pure a white or black very simple top or dress underneath.
3. I think that the vest is worth altering and you can wear it well!! Love the idea of a girly top underneath
4/5. Love the wrap top- Killer!! wear with skirts such as the one you have on, worth taking in
6. I would not wear earrings with necklace
Asha, I love ALL of the things you posted!
The shoes don't make you look stumpy at all; you have such beautiful slim calves that there is no danger of that.
I really like the bomber on you. It's sassy and I think you can pull it off.
LOVE the waistcoat with the black short sleeved blouse and the cami underneath. Beautiful!
Great wrap top. Do you have a denim skirt? I bet that would look good.
I like the skirt, it seems very versatile, so yes, I'd have it shortened.
I'd wear very small and subtle earrings with the necklace, e.g. tiny silver or diamond studs, but not pearl earrings. (What a gorgeous necklace).
You look great!
Asha,
1. The shoes are great, very flattering actually!
2. I love the biker jacket on you! I am also a huge fan of eggplant :)
3. I am not sure about the waistcoat. I mean, not this particular waistcoat, but in general, waistcoats on busty gals. I never wear them, because I feel that they make my bust appear even bigger than it really is. But it might be just a prejudice, or maybe something that is true for me, but not necessarily for you.
4. Great wrap top, lovely skirt. They actually look good together.
5. I LOVE the necklace. Amazing, and emphasizes your lovely long neck.
-love the shoes!
-I'm not crazy about the jacket. I don't know if you noticed in my last pictures from the opera, but mine doesn't zip up all the way either (it could, but it looks goofy and feels awkward). It still zips higher than yours, and it's not as cropped. I think one that is longer and zips up to where you would keep the stance on a button-down jacket would work better. I like moto jackets to be cropped too, but yours is too cropped in my opinion. I would prefer one that hit around your waist.
-I like the waistcoat. It has a lot of potential to me.
-Love the wrap top
-Love the skirt
-LOVE the necklace. You are going to send Angie into orbit with that. I personally wouldn't wear earrings. The necklace is such a showpiece. I suppose you could wear some studs but I am inclined to keep them as nondescript as possible, in which case you may as well just leave them off.
Asha, you are a sassy little lass!
o KILLER gladiators! KEEP, KEEP, KEEP!
o The bomber is fab and you totally pull it off. A mandarin collar with a front zip like that is perfect for your curvy bod and chest. I’d like to see it dressed down with jeans too. The colour is MAGICAL against your skin.
o Adore the waistcoat and the way you’re wearing it with the black top. Super!
o Wrap tops are a no brainer for your bod. Hope you have more.
o Nice skirt so by all means have it shortened.
o Love the necklace and your suggestion of tiny pearls or studs with it is ideal.
Woohoo! You have us gushing :0)
Asha - I agree with Angie's comments - I love it all on you and I so badly want your pearls!!! They are my favorite item. You look great.
Thanks everybody! I feel inspired now - I'll put together some outfits this week using these items and get things altered as well.
Maya, I agree with you about it being too cropped. I think I'm going to try some different outfits with it and see what I can do. I think I am definitely not comfortable with it zipped, but I will see if I can make it work because the collar, the shoulder detail, the color - it's just so me :) I've got Angie's approval so I've got to try to make it work :)
Thanks again! This forum is SO helpful.
Asha, everything looks great! I don't think I have much to add to what all the ladies have said above except that everything looks fab :-) I'm a 34D, so have some busty gal issues myself. Maybe a V-neck top or something with an open collar might help offset the length of the moto jacket?. That color is gorgeous on you! My favourite outfit is the one with wrap top and the white skirt. Simply fabulous :-)
It's funny how some of the bustier among you were a bit uncertain about the waistcoast whereas I, on seeing it, thought "I wish I could fill out a waistcoast like that"!
Asha, I somehow missed this yesterday. I LOVE your waistcoat! I would definitely say it's worth altering. I also like the jacket - the violet color could look dated on some people, but it looks so rich with your skin tone. Wish I could make pastel-ish shades look so beautiful.
