Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Need help with wedding attire (maternity)

I am going to my cousin's wedding next month and have no idea what to wear. The thing is I will be 7 months pregnant and I really hate to go out and buy a dress I'll wear once (possibly it might get another use for Christmas parties when I'll be 9 months pregnant). So what should I do? The wedding is an outdoor evening wedding in Knoxville, TN in the middle of October. I have no idea what the weather will be like, but I guess they're not expecting it to be too cold yet.

What have I got in my closet?

Dresses:

Or I could wear this blouse:

with a black pencil skirt or a grey pinstripe pencil skirt. I also have a matching blazer to go with the grey pinstripe pencil skirt but I have no idea how to dress up the suit. The dresses are jersey and I can't help feeling like they are a little too casual but maybe I'm just not imagining the right accessories.

My aunt and uncle always throw fabulous parties so of course I want to look great too, despite being huge. What should I do? Do I need to break down and purchase something for the event or can I get away with what I have? If I do need to find something new, I don't even know where to begin. Thanks for your help.

The black dress looks lovely on you and it is very flattering!

The blue dress is lovely but not for a weeding (it seems moore casual to me).

Patience - The black dress looks fantastic on you and I think it would be perfect for the occasion.

I think the black dress is perfect it looks fantastic on you x

Patience, I think that both the black and the blue dresses look great on you, and I think either would work for the wedding. I don't think the fact that the dresses are jersey should stop you from wearing one of them. You can definitely dress up either of the dresses with accessories. (Additionally, I think that people give a little more leeway to the attire of a pregnant woman on special occasions, although I personally don't think these dresses look casual.)

I like the white shirt, but I think that the dresses look so great on you that I would go with one of those. Oh, and you look beautiful at six months!!

I'm not very familiar with dress codes for US weddings but I absolutely adore that black dress and have a hunch that could definitely work for this occasion. That blue dress and skirt + shirt are killer too, but are maybe less suitable for the wedding?

I just cannot get over how utterly incredible you look!!!

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments. ;) These pictures are old though-- I have quite a pronounced belly. I'm starting to detect surprise in people I meet that I have 3 months still to go. Sigh.

So the top choice is the black dress. That's mine too and when I bought it I kind of had the wedding in mind although I wasn't sure if we were going to go at the time. So how to accessorize it? I'd like to wear my green strappy heels with the dark pink flower:

or is that too much?

What about jewelry and clutch? Thanks.

oh... love, love the shoes.. perfect, not too much because the dress is black and it allows to play a little more with the accessories.

as to the clutch.. it's difficult without seeing the outfit but..

Or (in the color Pink)

as to jewelery I would go for someting simple like:

Yes, accessories are now the question, Angie. One vote for the strappy heels (thanks, Rute).
