DD#1 is taller than me (she's a bit above 5'3"), slightly heavier than me, probably a large A/small B cup, and wears a size 9 shoe.

Oh, she's also 11.

So my problem is that she's basically in large juniors or medium womens sizes, but not many of those styles are appropriate or even desirable for an 11 year old girl.

Frankly, it is frustrating finding clothes that she will/can wear. She claims that there will be nothing at the mall that she will like, and indeed, after hitting many stores at the mall, we came home empty handed.

She's at the age where she is very sensitive about her developing body (given that she's sprouted earlier than most of her cohorts), and I think her inability to express what kind of clothing she feels comfortable wearing comes from this sensitivity.

At least we are set on pants, since she wears jeans and yoga pants. I would just like to buy her a few tops to get her through the year.

So if anyone has suggestions on tops that fit the following criteria, please let me know:

  • Short-sleeve
  • No pockets
  • No buttons
  • No patterns or designs (cats are OK)
  • Not too tight (meaning, shouldn't follow body contour)
  • Not too loose (meaning, not boxy)
  • Not too long (hit above the hips)
  • No high-low hem
  • Not low cut
  • Not v-neck
  • Not sheer

So basically a solid-colored t-shirt. But she doesn't like boy cut t-shirts; says they are too boxy.

Also, any advice dealing with girls and their developing bodies most appreciated.

Thanks in advance, collective wisdom of YLF!
