Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

need feedback on few maternity purchases

I finally managed to get some pictures of some new maternity purchases.

1.Red Top with maternity jeans:I have never worn red in my life as I feel that red doesnt look good on me.But I love the pattern of the top and the way it looks. These jeans are only slim fit maternity jeans that I could find.I feel that they are a bit loose on the crotch.Does the scrunch on the jeans look okay?

2.Wrap top-I really wanted to try a wrap top but am not sure if this is flattering.

3.Wrap Sweater-Is the fit flattering? Are there any other ways to wear it?

4.Trench-After reading so many posts on the need to have a good trench,I bought this.It is a bit tight now due to my baby bump but do you think it fits well on shoulders and is the length okay?

5.Jacket-I bought this jacket on a whim.

I would appreciate feedback on all the outfits as I would normally not buy any of them.

hi Ruchi - congratulations on your pregnancy. How exciting.

Red looks great on you (but then I'm biased since it's my favorite color and I also have Indian skin tone). I like the red top best with the cardi and the jacket. The jacket and trench look great. The jeans at the bottom look a little loose in their scrunch though I'm not an expert. Wonder if you could roll them up for more casual occasions? The sweater works great. I'm not so sure about the wrap top - I think the color seems to wash you out a bit - again I"m not an expert though.

Hi Ruchi. Congrats. Just to comment on a few items
* I think the jeans need to be shortened a little
*I actually don't think the wrap top is all that flattering. Something more bump defining would look better ( like the red top)
* you could wear the grey wrap sweater unbelted and open for a different look

Wow, Ruchi! You did really well! I’ll comment more thoroughly later, but I just wanted to chime in and say that your maternity style instincts are GREAT :0)

I think all of your purchases are good, I especially love the red top and the trench? You and bump look fabulous!

Thank you all of you for looking.I am sorry for the bad quality of pictures. My camera has been giving some problems.Yesterday when the baby was napping and the hubby was available,I just managed to get some pictures with the cellphone.
Sihaya-Thank you.It certainly is exciting when I am chasing a toddler while pregnant.I have seen Indians wear red really well especially newlyweds.I am also not a fan of the colour of the wrap top.
Anne-Thank you.I love the suggestion to wear the sweater unbelted.
Angie-Thank you. This means a lot to me.I would have never thought about emphasizing the baby bump but for your posts and Patience's tips.I feel so good when I am emphasizing the bump and not hiding under flowing fabric.
Egpal-Thank you.I too love the way the red top drapes the bump.
RoseandJoan-I am hoping that the trench will be a good investment piece.

What a beautiful bump you have, Ruchi! I think all of your purchases are great. My favorite is the jacket-- it's awesome. You look great in red. I really like the style of the blue top but I'm not an expert on color. To me, it looks fine. I like to wear my maternity wrap cardigans with the front parts actually overlapping (i.e. you don't really have it wrapped the way you are wearing it). More like this:

The trench is kind of hard to see, but I like it too.

I’m back Ruchi and here is my 2 cents per item:

1. The jeans will look PERFECT if you have them shortened just a few inches. Don’t take all the scrunch away though.

2. The wrap top looks great! What a fab bump!

3. KILLER cardigan. I LOVE the way this falls and how you’ve tied it above your bump. It’s very attractive.

4. Fabulous trench! What a fun belt! I wonder if you can start tying that above your bump too?

5. Great purple jacket! Love it with the red T. It does not need to close, so as long as it’s comfortable, wear it. It will give your outfits a strong shoulder line and good structure.

Well done!

Thank you Patience and Angie for the kind words.I love the clothes by Isabella Oliver and have tried to recreate that look with pieces from Target.I am so happy to know that you have given a thumbs up to all the clothes. Its only because of your tips that I bought these items.**hugs**

Congratulations Ruchi!

1. I like the red top on you - I think red looks great with your coloring. Does this top have some side ruching? I found that those kind of tops were best to accommodate the growing bump. The jeans need to be shortened a bit. They seem a little loose in the hip area, how do they feel?

2. I like the wrap top - the print is very pretty! it does seem a little summery though- it would look great paired with white bottoms! Maybe you could try a cardi over it to give it more of a fall/winter look.

3. Fabulous wrap sweater! It looks so cozy & warm!

4. Hmm, it's hard to say about this trench since you have the bump. What is your normal (non-pregnant) body type? I think the fit looks good in the shoulders but the details really emphasize the shoulder line. I know for me as an inverted triangle, I tend to avoid shoulder details like that because they emphasize that I am bigger on top than on the bottom. I am not sure if this is an issue for you but just wanted to mention it.

5. Cute jacket!
