I thought I had a long neck but I never looked like Audrey Hepburn in a turtleneck. then I discovered that my neck is wide compared to my face/ head. this complicates matters.

So, is your neck skinny or wide?

Earlobe placement? Aren't everybody's earlobes located at the bottom of their ears? I don't get the concept of higher or lower earlobe placement!
I can easily touch my chin to my chest. But no surprise about that - when I try to be really polished and "current" and button the top button on a button down shirt I get lipstick on the collar! Seriously - how weird is that?

No wonder I'm always been confused about neck length! It isn't JUST about the length of your neck but all these other things................how big your hands are, how flexible you are, where your earlobes are placed, how developed your traps are, what your jawline is, what your other body proportions are, how wide your neck is, how big your head is, how broad your shoulders are..... how big your feet are (haha- I added that ....or maybe it does matter)?

It never would have occurred to me that everyone can't touch their chin to their chest... You learn the wackiest things on YLF!

From the hand test I'd have an average neck which is probably true, but I also have big hands, so who knows. I do know, from my adventures in altering sewing patterns, that I have a forward neck and forward shoulders. Thus true turtlenecks aren't comfortable for me because they make me feel choked, rather than the height being the issue.

Some of this stuff is genetic and some postural; I've had massage therapists tell me that most people these days have forward neck posture because so many of us spend our days working at computers.
