Narrow belt with black dress+new pic+more pics

- Added a picture of a wider belt that I used to wear with this dress (#2). Any preferences?

- Also added pics of the dress on its own, without any belt (#3 and 4). It's quite flowy which is why I've preferred to wear it with a belt, but perhaps it works without too?

I bought one (well, it came with a pack of three) narrow/slim/skinny (not sure about the correct term!) belt yesterday to wear with skirt+top, and realised it might work with dresses too!

This is a casual black dress that I've had for years, but I still like it! Wear it here with leggings and red boots.

What do you think? Does it work?

I looked at your last post with the skirt and contrasting blouse. For some reason, I prefer the skinny belt with those outfits rather than this dress. I feel like this dress needs a wider belt, but I'm not sure why.

Thanks AJ! I normally wear a wider, white belt with this one, but I thought this could be good for variation... I can try the wider belt when I get home today and post a pic of that, for comparison!

I like the dress, too, and see why you've kept it, and I love it with the tights/leggings and red booties. Here's another alternative to really change things up. What about wearing it without a belt? Or, wearing one, low-slung, more Boho-style since that's trending now?

I recall Angie wearing a denim dress without the belt and I loved it. This may work for you, too, Karin.

Thank you Vicki, I appreciate your comment! The thing is, the dress is very flowy and wide without a belt, which is why I like wearing it like this to get some waist definition...

Could you show us without the belt? I never belt dresses because where the belt sits on me gives an empire look that I don't love. I'd like to see the belt lower in a V shape too. Great dress and boots!

I like the skinny belt. I like alaskagirl's suggestion of one of those lower-slung belts, too. But you don't have to go belt-crazy, it looks good here!

I like the skinny belt better. I get what you say because I also have a dress like that but have you tried wearing the dress as some kind of sack dress? Or it isn't that wide?

Thank you Angie! Just to be sure, what is low contrast really? (I blame my language shortcomings on my Swedish mother tongue...) Is the brown belt ok or would another colour be more preferable?
