And I'm elated!!
As some of you already know, Patience helped me get a pair of silver Docs in the US. THANK YOU again Patience, this is so sweet of you!

They arrived yesterday and I love everything about them: the colour (how they seem shiny silver one moment and darker the next), the incredibly soft leather (yum)...

I was wondering a bit though if I shouldn't have gone up a size after all. Angie recommended I get the 38 (US6), but when I tried them on the first time, I felt they were very snug in the heel area, and although there was a little room left in the toe box, it wasn't all that much. Now that I've tried them on a few times, I'm starting to relax: I have the impression that they're molding to my feet perfectly and that the leather will stretch a bit with wear.

Just to be sure, I took a few close-ups. Let me know what you think about the fit (on the other ladies, they seemed to be more loose, but I think they all have slimmer calves and ankles than me).
I like them on me, hope I don't look too stocky or masculine?

I got the cream and black striped turtleneck and the light grey sweater vest in the January sales here, and I took some photos of my new Matt and Nat bag as well.

The hose are the Wolford Luxe 9 net tights. I absolutely love the look of them, but as you can see in the pictures they already have a few snags in them (after wearing them once). Well, they're not really snags (no holes), but the material looks darker and 'bunchier' in certain spots.

Those Docs fit you to a T. If you went up a size I'd be afraid they'd get too tall on you. They hit you just in the right place on your leg. Wow. Incredible!

The Docs fit you great Inge. Mine also rubbed a bit at the heel, but that went away after a few wears. Now they are most comfortable winter shoes by far.

Love the new bag and the sweaters too. And you are indeed very pretty.

Love the doc on you, I am so glad you got them! They fit you very well and there is nothing masculine at all about them. Great bag and I also really like the gray vest/green shirt combo. Enjoy your new goodies!

Truth be told, I'm not all that photogenic, so I tend to avoid 'head shots'. I did post a 'full frontal' picture in the Who's Who thread, you can see it here:

(this picture is the exception to the above rule, not kidding: often I think I look ok and then I see the photos of e.g. a family event, and I look goofy or silly, or I have five double chins etc. in each and every one of them;-)

I don't know why I didn't think of taking pictures in the bathroom mirror before, though. You really can get much more detail of what you're wearing on top that way. I'll keep that in mind.

Hi Inge! Your silver Docs look perfect. I've worn mine a couple of times now and they truly are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Your Matt & Nat bag looks wonderful, too. Enjoy them.

Thank you so much ladies for all the positive comments and compliments!! I'll definitely be walking with an extra spring in my step now when wearing the Docs.

I adore my new bag Lena, it's a little larger than my other bags, but it feels quite light. I've never owned a 'croc' bag before and I just feel so chic carrying it around. Are you still thinking about getting one?
Ana: We've yet to see you with bad posture, but I know what you mean; I slouch too at times, especially when I'm tired.

And oh YES! I've always loved button-down shirts, but I got out of the habit of wearing them while working from home full-time. Just before finding YLF I 'rediscovered' them, and was amazed all over again at how versatile they are and how different I feel when sporting them. It's definitely a quick way to look pulled together and ready to go.
My new mission is to find a few button-downs with beautiful details (Anne Fontaine comes to mind), because I only have a few 'plain' ones now (I do really love the green one too).

Inge, I'm still on the fence about Matt and Nat. How are liking the top zipper? I am a little concerned about the zipper catching on jackets and tops. I've seen some of the bags in a store (finally) and was a little put off by the rough finishes. Heh, I'm so indecisive. Also, which material did you get? Japanese paper or something else?

I'm also rediscovering button down shirts thanks to YLF. I wore one yesterday and I felt so good, I didn't want to change into lounging clothes when I got home.

Lena, the Avril bag I got is a bag from their Pool collection, which has more of a croc pattern than the Japanese paper. I love that, because you won't see every tiny little scratch on it, and because it adds texture to an outfit.
The top zipper won't be a problem I think (at least I haven't experienced any trouble yet): the zipper doesn't really touch your clothing anywhere, and if you keep the bag zipped up when carrying it on your shoulder, the little 'lip' sits on one side further down, so not much chance of it catching on your clothes.

I know what you mean though. You would say that buying a bag is easy, no fit issues etc. but I have the hardest time finding fabulous ones too (and like Ana has mentioned, I often don't know anymore whether a bag is too classic or matronly or classy and timeless;-).

By the way, I don't know if you have considered grey, but I kind of like this one:

I saw the grey Japanese paper in store, and now that you've described the Pool, I think I saw it, too. I think I prefer the Pool.

I really like the Avril shape, but I think it may be too tall for me. I'm 5feet 5 inches tall, but I have a short torso, so I'm leaning towards the Hamburg (which is not on sale yet). The grey Portishead is on sale right now in some US stores. Decisions, decisions.

As for rough finishes, I was a little put off by the hardware and the zipper. But you know, my initial reaction can't be trusted.

I like the white Everest you linked to. It's out of my box, and it looks comfortable. I just have to figure out what my priorities are for bags.
