Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

my quick jeans alteration

Okay, so I just have to share this.
My biggest problem with my jeans that sit slightly below my waist is that I'm constantly walking around tugging up at the waistband. I feel that I need suspenders to keep my pants up.
So, as I was unloading the dishwasher, I had an inspiration. I got out my sewing machine, took my pants off and sewed 4 little "darts" into the waistband of my jeans. 2 across the back, and one at each side seam. By dart, I mean I took it in about a half inch at the top of the waistband and then angled down to meet the edge where the waisband meets the jeans.
It took me less than 10 minutes, and I slipped my jeans back on and oh my! I am in heaven! They feel so much more secure now. No more tugging.
Just thought I'd share that because I know I can't be the only tugger out there!

Great idea! There's some contraption you can buy with snaps (doesn't require sewing, doesn't make holes in the waistband) that does the same thing, but yours is more ingenious.

That's exactly what my tailor suggested as a cheaper solution. For $10 more, they take the waistband in from the back seam. I am going to try this on my new pair.
