That's a good way to start!! I think if we want to have a nice style we have to take care first of ourselves so that we can have a nice base..
There is nothing worst than a lovely expensive outfit and then a messy hair or scary brows..
I think you should at least ask a profissional about your brows, brows can make such a difference in one's face!

As for your search for a necklace organizer, I hung a tie rack on the wall of my closet and it works very well. If you can't picture a tie rack, it's something like this one: http://www.stacksandstacks.com.....d-peg-rack

I say use whatever vouchers you have. If you don't like it- you don't have to do it again. My necklaces are just hung on the wall on nails. They are around my vanity mirror, and it looks like a big display or piece of artwork.

Great list, Anne. You've inspired me to think about making one of my own. I am also in the mode of making a shopping list for the coming season (fall/winter here) so I can wisely use my clothing budget. I actually did one last year and have a few items left over from the last list which I didn't find last year. But BR has the charcoal cardi, and I have some rewards cards to put toward it!

It's a great list to perk you right back up. I agree with Khris, use all the vouchers and see what you think. I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time in July and it really added a element of sophistication to my daily makeup-less look.

I was inspired by your post, all the little things do make a difference. So I bought a dark nail polish and put that on tonight. I never do that because it chips off so fast. Instant fall update and pick me up.

The difficulty with most of this, BTW is finding the time, and finding someone to look after the kids (I have heaps of willing friends, but I am not very good at phone calls)

I have bought the hair dye. Now DH just has to re light the pilot light so we have hot water!

I never have facials (only exceptions are freebies, and as a gift). But I made the rather unwise purchase of a voucher book ( do you guys have these in the US? - I paid $100 for a book of vouchers that is supposed to give you heaps of freebies - but it is so much work to go around using them up that I pretty much wasted it)

My eyebrows are well overdue (I get them "threaded" rather than waxed) and I need a hair cut too.

I'm with you next week, Anne! I am planning, before our HK trip, to get a pedicure, have my hair cut and colored (to tone down the highlights for fall), and get my eyebrows threaded. The last one hasn't been done in about 5 months.

As for the hairbrush, here in the US, lice is epidemic among the grade schoolers, so sharing hairbrushes is done at your own risk!!! I would definitely get yourself your own brush. :-)

Let me know how the de-pilling goes. I need to do this too, but I don't have a de-pilling device yet. The thought of de-pilling scares me because I fret it will make the fabric too thin?

Shiny - I do indeed spend countless hours in the battle against lice and am often treating my daughters and myself (usually just as a precaution, in my case) Am dealing with it right at the moment. The 2 youngest, especially my toddler, will not stay still enough for the nitcombing. I have resorted at times to climbing in with her at night to try and do it while she is asleep!
Those days I use a comb or go for the tousled look!

I don't know how the de-pilling will go as I never used it. I'll try it out on an old knit first!

Reporting back - nearly there, done all except having nails cut and finding de pilling device.

I had the eyebrow wax (my eyebrows were in pretty good shape so I doubt I'll pay for that in the future) and also booked a free eyelash tint but that won't happen for a few weeks.
Haircut is tomorrow! Unfortunately I only booked a cut (not a wash) and I won't have washed hair for it as our hot water is off again. Is this a problem? Should I just boil the kettle and do it in the basin? I wonder if I should go to the hairdresser with wet hair?

Anne, here in the states most salons assume an appointment for a cut means a shampoo too. Could you call and see if they can do a shampoo? It could be different in your neck of the woods, I know.

I want to tell you how much I support you for taking the time to do all the little things that make us feel put together. It is so easy with kids to lose yourself. I did a makeover campaign several years ago (hair, skin, chapped lips, eyelashes) and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Of course, still working on the wardrobe issues....

I second Sinead's idea of phoning ahead to see if a wash is included, or adding one in if it isn't. I understand hair is much easier to cut when it's wet and clean, so I suspect it would be worth your while to book the wash or clean it yourself just before going.

Well done Anne, you are really building momentum with your make over. I hope the hairdresser does include a shampoo for you, it's definitely part of the pampering process for me.

Have you tried using pure Tea Tree Oil on the kids, a few dabs on the scalp each day is supposed to act as prevention. It's good to have around the house for cuts and scrapes to.

Anne, you are inspiring! I'm going to go call for a haircut appointment right now! Here a haircut includes a wash, but might not include drying or styling afterward. It is hard to keep up with these things, especially with children. Good for you for making the effort.

Okay, Anne, thanks for clarifying. I hope one of our stylists chimes in here, but if it were me, I'd time it so that I had clean, dry hair. When my hair is dirty it hangs differently, looks even thinner... I'd want them to see how it looks normally. Then they could wet it and cut it with that in mind. Hope that makes sense.

Hi Sinead that is what I was thinking. I ran out of time to wash it (in the cold too) before I went and the stylist did actually want to wash it this time but I had to refuse as I had a really tight schedule. Anyway it is cut now, I washed it at home afterwards and I am happy with it!

Ooh, enjoy your eyebrow wax - it was an epiphany for me the first time I had it done. I tend to go a loooong time between waxes - I just keep tweezers by my vanity and get a few strays each morning. So if you like it you may want to mantain that way.
