mustered up courage : today's outfit

I finally decided to be brave and post a pic. I have been struggling with an auto-immune disorder which caused me to rapidly gain weight the past year and have been hating to look in the mirror. Finally started accepting the way I look and dress for the body I have currently.

Was not in the 'going to work' mood today (post long weekend syndrome) so didnt work too hard to dress up.

A couple of questions:
1. Is the skirt length okay? Do my calves deserve skirts or should I stick to full-length pants/jeans ? (longer skirts become frumpy)
2. Is the pink too pink? My first piece in anything pink.

I would greatly appreciate comments/criticism :)

Mirah, you look very nice! Great that you summoned the courage to post the picture! I am sorry about your illness, I hope you are feeling better now.

Your calves have great shape and are definitely skirt-worthy! You could try a bit shorter skirt, I think it would look even nicer! And the cardigan is very pretty on you! The color is very nice, kind of raspberry. Good job!

Yay Mirah! I agree w/Tanya that you look great in skirts--you have fab legs. I'd also go a little shorter--Maybe show the bottom of your knee cap?

The pink cardi is a great color. Try unbuttoning a few more of the top buttons too.

You certainly should not mind looking at yourself in a mirror!

I agree with Tanya and Nicole, you look fab in skirts! Two or three inches shorter will make you look even better.

Love your cardi, it's a great color on you. The whole color combos look very sharp and professional.

I concur. Keep wearing skirts; you look great!

thank you ladies! You all are indeed very kind :) And thanks Tanya, I am better now.

The reason I dint go for shorter skirts is coz my thighs are weird..they dont taper at a nice angle from the knees..its a sudden change. dunno how to explain. But I will try a length that shows just the bottom of the knee cap, Nicole.

Great look, Mirah! The cardi color is super, and I agree with everyone else about the skirt length: just a tad shorter will look even better, as it will show the smallest part of the calves. I actually wouldn't go 2-3 inches up, probably just an inch. Play around with it, pin it up in different length and take photos to compare.

Hi Mirah, I'm sorry to hear you've been suffering with an illness and wish you the best recovery. Now that being said I think you look fab!!! I don't know what you mean by your knees not tapering to your thighs at a nice angle, but I can see that you have really beautiful legs and the skirt seems just a tad long. Try pulling it up to where the hem hits right at the bottom of the knee cap and let's have another look.
Pink looks wonderful and cheery on you. Cute shoes too. I'm so jealous of women who feel comfortable in heels.

Mirah, you look very polished, and I love this rich pink on you! Agree with others on the length.

I think that color is gorgeous on you. I think darker skin tones look great in jewel tones and rich colors.

I'm with everyone on the length of the skirt. You look very polished.

And most importantly I'm glad you're feeling better!

You have great legs Mirah, perfect for skirts! And that deep pink looks gorgeous against your skin, and so fresh with the white shirt underneath. It livens up the whole outfit. Love it!

I also love the pink. And I think it looks very professional paired with the black and white.

I agree with everyone else on the skirt length also. You definitely have skirt-worthy legs!

Mirah,

I like your color combination. The pink is very nice and looks polished and professional. You do have great legs for skirts and the heels are wonderful.

I'm sorry to hear about your autoimmune disorder. I think you look very nice. I have something similar and it can affect your outlook terribly. Please take to heart the encouraging things you have heard here and put it in a "happy file" to use when things seem down!

you guys are all wonferful !!! (a big hug to all) I am normally happy about how I look...just sometimes it gets frustrating that a stupid hormone decides what I get to wear. No one likes a bully :)

the pink cardi looks rather dark in the picture..its from H&M if anyone has seen it in the store lately.. but I think I will keep it.

also will try a couple different skirt lengths and post more pics soon.
thank you so much ! I love skirts and dresses but didnt have an unbiased opinion so far.

Just chiming in to say that I agree with the previous comments. You have fabulous legs and absolutely should wear knee length skirts. That pink also looks great with your lovely dark skin, and the patent heels are beautiful.

Welcome photo Mirah! Style is not a dress size and you have a fab pair of legs. You look WONDERFUL in skirts! Your legs are so great that you need to show MORE of them. I second Antje’s suggestion of going 2-3 inches shorter on your skirts.

Love you in that lipstick shade and Nicole’s comment about unbuttoning a few more buttons below the bust is a good idea ( Nicole has become a cardi expert). You are indeed a polished lass and I can’t wait to see more. You have done a sterling job!

Ps thrilled to hear that your health is back on track. Hope you feel as good as you look.
