Motto Lola dress: I'm a copycat ;)

I bought this fab Motto dress from our gorgeous Deborah last week. It was so lovely to talk with her!

I know I'm a copycat, but it's the kind of dress that can be worn lots of different ways and individualised. I really like it off one shoulder.

#1. With a beaded belt/collar made from my DH's gran's 1960s suit she had tailored in Hong Kong. It was destroyed by moths but I was able to salvage this beautiful beadwork and make it into something that I could wear. It also looks fab as a collar over a black jacket.

#3 Worn with no belt and flat star sandals that I bought in Barcelona last year. Necklace from Sussan. I really like the idea of dressing it down like this as it suits the casual relaxed style of dressing where I live.

My dilemma: I adore this dress and would really like to purchase the striped version as a more casual option. The thing is, I have recently done a huge purge and have been trying to build a monochromatic wardrobe of pieces that I love. The striped dress doesn't fit the monochromatic colour palette. It is something that I love though, and I know that I will wear it often. Should I relax my colour rules for the gorgeous striped version?

It looks so good on you! Your height and lovely slender frame shows of the dress beautifully. Love your choice of belt! The designer wore hers off the shoulder too!!

I think it can be fun to have a "wildcard" in your closet for those times when you do want something different and feel like a change. The style of the striped dress is still reflective of your overall style but the stripes/ colour provide the "wildcard" element. I have an orange dress(!) in a style that is very me and every now and again it's just what I feel like wearing:).

Wow, the dress looks fab on you! And how interesting that it looks different on you from how it looks on Deborah. Looks fab on her too of course but you have both brought your own style to the dress. Love the belt and the off the shoulder look. I say if you love the striped version too, you should buy it. If you are confident that you will love it and wear it, what more is there to debate?

I have to agree with Deborah and Brooklyn - if you will get lots of wear from an item, then go for it. I love the dress with the green belt, it adds your own signature to the dress.

The dress is beautiful on you, and the beaded belt gives a lovely individual touch. A s for the striped dress, I agree with the others: if it's calling to you and you will wear often, it deserves a place in your wardrobe.

Originality is overrated! Besides, your styling clearly makes it your own. I'm enamored of the belt and the way your let is slide onto your hip gives definition with ease.

This would be a great travel dress, because it has the chameleon-changling quality.

I think a wildcard dress is easier to mix than a skirt. The shape really suits you. I love this look and am tempted to copy!

That is absolutely gorgeous on you! I love it with the green beaded "belt." Such a unique look. The shape is fantastic. I love how you can wear it with flats or heels. So versatile.

I would be tempted to get it in the stripe as well but if that will dilute your wardrobe focus perhaps you can wait for a few weeks and reconsider?

Thank you everyone. I'm going to wait until after payday at the end of next week and see how I feel then. Deborah might be able to give me the heads up about stock. I don't want to rush into it but I don't want to miss out either.

This dress is dynamite on you. It's a great style--has a dramatic feel and yet still relaxed looking. The belt is gorgeous, and what great meaning it has for you, too.
I'd say if you're worried about missing out on the striped dress, especially after a day or two, that's a good indicator that you won't regret getting it.

The dress looks fabulous on you and you say you'd wear i=the striped one a lot, so I'd relax the monochrome rule and go for it.

I will keep an eye on stock for you:). The stripe is not selling as quickly as the animal and black versions:).
