Ever since I saw this blazer and the way it's styled, I've become obsessed

With blazers.
There are still scads of moto jackets coming out in the Fall inventories. But they're so common place now, they seem a bit played out. I do not want another moto jacket.
I'm envisioning a fall uniform of a blazer, button down shirt, jeans (probably boyfriend and distressed) and interesting shoes. And that's it.

Well, I am not moto'ed out, I still love and will be wearing my moto jackets. However, I love the sound of your fall uniform, and I will try to wear something like that too. I need a fabulous blazer for that though, all of mine are pretty boring.

Anna that's an interesting thought. Motos and blazers are my favorite two kinds of toppers, and most of my blazers feel dated. I've been hankering for long blazers since last fall but haven't bit on any. And while I got two motos at NAS, I've been seriously thinking of returning one in favor of getting a blazer instead. Hmm...

For me motos and blazers serve different purposes. Motos are outerwear and blazers are indoor wear. Probably this is bc all my motos are leather though, and I can't wear leather jackets indoors (too hot and restrictive of arm movement). So I say there is room for both!

I'll belong to the club that wears that uniform too. It's the Emmanuel Alt look - no? I have not owned a button-down in so many years I can't even guess because I hate ironing and don't count it as one of my talents. And dry-cleaning a shirt after each wear sounds quite high-maintenance to me.....but I'm over all of that and am planning the same look for fall myself. (yay for high maintenance)

I spent all of last fall looking for silver laceless oxfords (or even laced for that matter) and could not find anything in my city at all. They were in every magazine and on every blog - but not in a Wpg shoe store. Trying again this year.

I still like my moto, but I am not cutting edge. I also like my blazers. Button downs elude me due to fit, but I do like them with a turtleneck, especially in my winters.

That's interesting, Anna! Motos really aren't me, so I can't say I have a feel for it.

Do have a question though - can you get by with a blazer? Motos provide a lot more by way of protection from the elements.

LOVE that uniform, Anna.

Motos are Modern Classics. (They are HECTICALY trendy too). They are always in style - I'm personally not moto-ed out. Have had an updated moto in my wardrobe since I was a teen. Like Aida - I wear motos, blazers and coats for the most part.

As for blazers and shirts - well, Anna. You are preaching to the converted. More Modern Classics. I can't wait to wear my new Smythe blazer with white jeans and cognac booties (which I still have to get).

Nope. Love moto jackets and they tend to work well for my body type. But I adore a classic blazer too. Room for both IMHO.

I haven't yet scratched my moto jacket itch, and they don't seem to be saturated at the street level where I live (in the same way maxi dresses are for example), so my eye isn't tired.

I can see classic slightly retro blazers styled in a new way working well for you though.

Love that blazer! Wonder how many years it will be before something like that filters down to the Petite size range? I'm not surprised you're moto'd out since they really seem to be over saturating mainstream stores. Nonetheless, I've yet to find one I love that both fits and flatters me, but even my eyes are growing tired. Being short, I still favor a tough look or a look that might get me a pat on the head. Gr-r-r-r.

Anna, I so love that blazer! I have become enamored of blazers recently too and am looking to add one to my closet this fall. I am thinking of trying the same thing: blazer, simple shirt, jeans (though I am going to not go the distressed route), and shoes. Funny thing is, I hadn't thought of wearing *interesting* shoes! I was going to make them plain. I'll have to think about that.

I am still looking for the perfect moto jacket for myself, so I am not moto-ed out yet! I'm glad Angie says that they're classics, because otherwise by the time I find one, they'll probably be on the way out.

Anna, what kind of shoes would you pair with this outfit? I know it will be something fashion forward to cut the modern classic of the blazer. Just trying to imagine what that footwear could be. Or an example.

Sometimes you get tired of seeing something that everywhere and want to mix it up a bit. Especially someone like you who starts ahead of the trend curve.

That's very preppy, but in a definitely good way. Just don't take it too far and go all AC/DC guy on us! Probably the Japanese book of prep (I forget the name) style plus the silver loafers will kill it nicely.

I used to not like motos, because it seemed like they all had big epaulets and wide lapels, neither of which suited my wide shoulders and short neck. But lately I've been able to find some that are more moderated, and I really like them. But blazers are more my favorite...I think I have this baseline feeling that if you put a really good blazer on, then you are all set to go just about anywhere.

I can totally see you in that uniform -- it's simple, but you will make it your own look with those special Anna touches.

For me, there's a place for both motos and blazers -- although I haven't quite found blazers that work for me (but that may change soon).

The blazer and the way it is styled are seductive. It almost makes me want to copy, too. Your thoughts about a uniform are intriguing. I don't picture you as a uniform dresser. I'm attracted to the idea, but I get bored too easily to make it work.
As to blazers versus moto jackets. . . . I just bought my first moto recently. It still has the tags on it, though I'm pretty sure I'm keeping it. It's a cropped version in faded black denim, from Free People.
I've tried blazers, but I haven't been able to get into them since I left my office work behind (2005).
It would be so typical of me to start wearing a moto jacket when the trend is waning.

I like your idea for a blazer with distressed jeans. I have never been a blazer wearer and I have a beautiful one that I bought last year and have not worn yet. You've given me good ideas on how to take the prep out of the blazer. I still love moto's but it seems to be harder to know what a real moto is because to me a lot of jacket styles are being called moto.

Blazers, denim, shirts, and ankle boots have been my favourite uniform since I was in my early 20s. And that is long ago.

But I'm planning to make this more conscious for the fall.

I haven't actually got a moto -- not a classic one, anyway. I do have a white leather jacket from Danier that is more of a scuba style. So I guess you can't say I am moto'ed out....I would still go for one if I found the right one. But blazers have always been my favourites.

I do like that blazer and that whole outfit very much, and could see copying it in some way. I can really see you taking it on and really running with it!

Interesting to see you speak of a uniform -- you don't seem like a uniform gal, but its always fun to shake things up and defy expectations.

I'm not over motos. Probably never will be. They outnumber blazers in my closet now, and that reflects how often I actually wear each style. I think that because my jean choices tend to be less trendy, I lean away from blazers so I don't look too officey or conservative. Motos suit my style and my life better, for the most part. But I still enjoy blazers for a change of pace.

Looking forward to seeing how you approach this blazer outfit formula.

Yes I am moto'ed out even though I only had three pieces ala moto. I knew i wasn't going to love it for long anyway, so luckily my things were from Zara.

That sounds like a great uniform Anna! I think you will look amazing in it, with your gorgeous toned long legs.

I still love my motos, I have two of them. One white one, which I plan to wear again in September - October, and one black one from Zara that's showing quite a bit of wear. I have not had the urge to replace it.

As toppers go, I am excited about the oversized cardigan look. So cozy, right up my alley. I'm also excited to pull out my coats again. Here are three exciting new coat looks I'm lusting for. As well as a long blazer from the genius of Ann. I'm not sure if this is her last collection, or if this is the first done by her staff which took over designing for her. In any case it's gorgeous, dramatic and timeless.

I actually really like your blazer inspiration. Ever since I consigned my pleather moto, I've been wondering if I would replace it with a real leather version. Thing is, I'm just not sure if I'm a moto gal. Then I saw motos at Walmart, and I must say that gave me pause! It's hard to look tough or edgy in a moto when every soccer mom (like me) is wearing one. They've become very commonplace, but I guess that's how the trend cycle runs.
