For those who haven't seen my recent series of emails, I am currently doing lots of trying on work clothes at the shops in order to get an idea of which current fashions might suit me

Ahh, now see, I really like the last skirt on you. The higher fitted waist and the closer fitting top make all the difference.

Gorgeous skirts, esp the last - nice looking fit. I love the first, but it seems a little big in the waist.

Thanks Sharon - it does look better than yesterday's, I agree. Perhaps still needs a bit of hemming though.

Rachylou both the first 2 skirts could do with a slight taking in the waist (same with yesterday's) - always the way on my figure.

I really like 2, and 3. Both give you different silhouettes. Would there be options in your wardrobe to work with a flared skirt as well as a straight one?

Great idea, Anne, to do lots of trying on, to find out what suits you, but without buying yet. (I need to take a leaf out of your book.)

You do wear those pencil-with-peplum shapes really well, and I see #2 is your favourite of this batch. Perfect fit. I like #3 as well - the "gentle" box pleats are lovely (wondering if it was a soft jersey knit).

I like the two black and white skirts the best. They seem the most flattering. I'm not sure why the pink floral is less flattering? It could be the angle od photography, but it gives you less shape, and IMO it makes your legs appear shorter. I'm struggling with that because I don't understand why?

Another vote here for 2 and 3. They look really good on you.
Good thinking to try on lots of things. It can sharpen your eye to what works and what doesn't.

Thanks everyone - so good to get feedback.
Diane G - yes I could potentially get 2 skirts (especially if I don't get any trousers - which I think will be the way I'll go - trousers are just so unflattering on me that I doubt I'd get the wear out of them)
Ruth M - yes it is a soft knitted material (I am never quite sure exactly what jersey is).

I love #3 - but it is a statement skirt. No matter how you style it will be a noticeable focal point. Since you are on a limited budget I'd consider how each piece fits into your wardrobe and how many ways you can wear it. Unless you are looking for a statement for events etc, in which case.... #3 all the way

2 and 3 -- but they are wildly different in my eyes. #2 is "I'm a rock star in my other life"; and #3 is "I'm headed to Paris for the weekend."

Love 2 and 3. I agree 3 is statement but then actually some of the others are notable, too, and not shrinking neutrals. That may not be a bad thing at all.
#3 is a better fit than the other stripe and seems more "you", very stylish but wearable and not overwhelming.
One thing about styles like #3, to me they demand better footwear than some other skirt styles--polished and ladylike UNLESS you can pull off the sneaker look and then the sneakers, to me, need to be pristine.

They are all great, but if I had to vote for just one, I would vote for # 3. It looks really special to my eyes, but I also find it potentially more versatile than the other two because the print is more neutral. And while I can see the point about it being a statement skirt depending on how you style it, I would actually find it the easiest of the bunch to work into an outfit and I can imagine many ways of dressing it up and down.

Second favorite is # 2. Number # 1 is nice, but there's something about the fabric--is it a fold? A change in the pattern?--that I can't quite make out on the picture.

I hope you get the striped one and then post some outfits here later! It really is a special piece.

I agree with the others. I wasn't crazy about the striped skirt before, but paired with the sweater, it's lovely. Do you have other ways of wearing it? I have the similar Halogen skirt and don't wear it often because I am not working in an office, but I love it when I do wear it. Such a fun change.

I like 3 best, followed by 2. My thought is both of these look like statement pieces though. Which is in no way a bad thing, but might depend on your comfort level for re-wearing/remixing them if they become a core part of your professional wardrobe.

I love both 2 and 3. I think it depends a bit on your style as to which would be better (if you can buy only one). 3 seems very fun, while 2 is more modern with a bit of edge.

2 is the most flattering but 3 is very nice too, t's unusual that inverted pleats land exactly where they should, and with the stripes it's got a little bit of a nautical summer thing too. They both look pretty easy to wear.
P.S. The green color of the peplum that didn't work out was really really pretty on you.
