Smittie -- I think these were the women's version? Can't imagine they'd do florals in the mens. Which I think is why they're borderline too narrow. I tried on a pair of the plain old white and green ones a couple years ago, and remember them being comfier. I wear men's shoes pretty often, to get a D width...
kkards -- I wish I could do white shoes more of the year, but they would be grey and brown shoes in seconds flat where I live. We have mud season instead of spring. I have dark hair besides, so black, brown, navy, etc all bookend better anyway.
lisap -- I've *always* felt weird about non-canvas Chucks. I totally get what you mean about trying too hard. Some people pull them off splendidly, but not me. It occurs to me that when I lived in a warmer climate I wore canvas shoes almost exclusively; I'm really picky about leather, and I live and breathe extreme-casual...
viva -- the extreme trendiness of the Stans is I think part of why I sent them back. I loved the graphic, but I do balk a little at jumping on bandwagons (although at the moment I can only think of one adult and a couple high-schoolers who I've seen wearing Stans around here -- it's not that much of a thing in rural New England, while Chucks are pervasive).
ginger -- deciding when to say no to clothes has gotten sooo much easier since joining YLF!
RobinF -- I've always had just as much trouble finding good athletic shoes as I have any other category of footwear. For actual running, I swear by my Altras now, but they look way too ridiculous for streetwear, IMO: https://www.altrarunning.com/
sterling -- speaking of comfort, I have a pair of mint green Allbirds on the way to me. They're supposed to be supremely comfortable, and this color may fill my need for light-but-not-white shoes. They're supposed to be machine washable, too! https://www.allbirds.com/produ.....0211097415
