Military Cardi

So, I took the gray coat back to Ross,

and I picked up this awesome military inspired cardi.

(ignore what I'm wearing with it- it's just what I happened to have on)
I love this, so I'm not even asking if I should keep it or not- it's staying. I'd like suggestions of what to wear it with, though. I was thinking maybe a white ruffled shirt (ruffles down the front that would spill out) with micro checks, or a plaid top with jeans.
Suggestions?

I like the cardi much better than the jacket. Good decision in my book. You look much happier in the blue and the style is much more cute. You're going to really enjoy this cardi. I love the way you are thinking of styling it. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures. How fun that you found a piece that is so inspirational.

Nice piece for fall, pair it with dark wash trouser jeans and v-neck longer top,so you have that layered look !

That is a fun piece. I'm not sure if ruffles would be too much. I'd have to see it on. I like the necklace you've got on with it. I'm a big fan of the white collared shirt. I think one would be nice with this, maybe with the tails hanging out the bottom?

Sweet!

This cardi is screaming for black jeans and a white top of sorts. I love that combiantaion. It's much fresher than wearing blue knits with blue jeans.

I am on the hunt for a white shirt, so I'll keep this sweater in mind when looking.

What a great cardi! I really like it on you.

Good call Khris! That's a sweet sweater and I'm looking forward to seeing how to style it :-)

Hmm, good tip from Angie to wear the dark blue with black, rather than blue denim!!! I must keep this in mind also.

Khris -- because this looks like a chunkier knit (is it really -- hard to see on a small monitor), you may find that wearing it on top of ruffles creates visual bulk. I would be inclined to pair it with something more sleek, such as a plain white shirt or blouse with a little stretch. Something like pintucking down the front would also be a nice touch.

Do you have -- or will you look for -- black jeans? I would love to see what you come up with!

I love the idea of blue/black/white, but I don't own any black jeans. If the pewter loafers that I just ordered fit, I may widen my denim search to include black. Of course, it's just all about what I can find in my price range that actually fits. A month or two ago, I tried on a bunch of jeans at Old Navy- I found jeans that fit no problem. The other day I tried again- nothing fit.
April- I like the idea of pin tucking. I think that there just needs to be some sort of detail so that it isn't too boring.

I love anything with pintucking on it. That is a great idea!
