It seems to me that she wears the same style all the time. It's always solid, single pieces, very fitted (she must have fabulous bras!) but really kind of boring to me. With her looks and figure she could wear anything she wants and look great, wish she would branch out a bit. As far as the white outfit, it seems like those shoes just don't work at all. Maybe they were a last minute change?

It's possible she would look uncomfortable no matter what she wore. Maybe she feels uncomfortable being thrust into this role. The other thing that occurred to me is that perhaps her husband has suggested that he likes her to dress this way, with the plunging neckline, etc., so she dresses this way even though she may not like it.

I am not prudish in any way, (and frankly, I'm not sure why this outfit is bothering me so much) but it is really getting to me that "Look how sexy I am" is the vibe being put forth here. I don't require her to dress like a nun, but she needs to seem at least a little bit powerful.

Melania Trump said she was going to take on cyber-bullying as her issue. This sort of kittenish, seductive fashion persona does not project the image of someone who would know how to manage a bully. (Unless her plan is, what, to date him?)

Wonder if MT owns an outfit *we* would think is more appropriate? Maybe in NY? I would go nuts if I had to split my time and wardrobe among three places on a regular basis. I have no doubt that I would inevitably discover that an important piece, whether shoes, topper, or earrings was in another location.

MT seems to have no desire to take on the FLOTUS mantle. I wouldn't be surprised if her husband never consulted with her, maybe because he didn't really expect to become #45. The blue inauguration outfit was great. Perhaps if we see other *odd* choices it is MT's passive aggressive way of showing her resistance to a job she doesn't want.

Not a fan of the outfit but like Robin, I wonder about her great-fitting bras.

@DonnaF -- yes, my own theory is that her husband himself did not actually want the job he now finds himself with. I'm pretty sure Mrs. T's head is spinning and that she would LOVE to go back to her sexy, arm-candy fashion persona because that is what she signed on for. But he won the electoral college, if not the popular vote, so I guess they're both kind of stuck now. Careful what you act like you're wishing for, because people just might take you seriously.

And I wouldn't worry too much about the stresses of keeping track of wardrobe spread across three homes. Capable staff are managing that, and guess who's footing the bill? (In fairness, I feel compelled to point out that that is the case with every POTUS and FLOTUS. It just varies considerably in lavishness, depending on the specific POTUS and FLOTUS.)
