Kut from the Kloth jeans, Plaid ruffled tshirt from Urban Outfitters, blue Gap cardigan, Me Too Swann flats. (I'm also wearing earrings and my red watch.)

What do you think? I'm not sure how well it works.

Any comments on the cardigan? I found it at Gap on sale for $15 - I actually got 4 of them in different colors because they seemed like such a good deal. I'm thinking keep - do you agree?

Medusa - I just posted an outfit as well and Marianna suggested a pop of color for a fun addition (in the form of a handbag). I love your jeans and flats and cardigan, but I am thinking maybe a different tee or shirt under the cardigan might work as well? You look very polished and the fit looks great! I am seeing a graphic tee as Angie described in today's post or even a button up, but something that might provide a bit more contrast between the cute cardigan and the shirt underneath.

What other colors did you get that cardigan in? You might also keep the tee and jeans and just switch out the cardi with one of the others too.

If you have time, I'd love to see what you think of my outfit today - color would not have occurred to me naturally (just not what I'm always drawn to) so the suggestion is quite helpful!

I like the idea of the oufit but I am not sure about the blue with the red/black plaid. I guess I would rather see it with black though I know it's sort of old school to be matchy-matchy. Or maybe it's the wash of the jeans - maybe the blue would have worked better if the jeans were a darker wash?? Also, how about throwing on a long strand of pearls, knotted, with this outfit (could have sworn you've done this before) - some accessories would be a fun addition!

Agrace, good point about the lack of contrast.

To answer your question about cardigan color - I also have the cardigan in a tan color, purple, and brown. It's funny Shana that you mentioned preferring a black cardigan because that was my default choice, but then I thought I should try something different. Maybe a lighter color cardigan would work better.

I did try wearing pearls, but they looked a bit odd to me over the ruffle on the shirt. You can't see it too well in the photo, but the top has a ruffle over the bust area.

So I've been thinking today about why Agrace's attempt at this formula is so great (A++++) and mine not so great (C at best). I think it's because while the top I was wearing is embellished, it's too subtle of an embellishment so there's not enough contrast.

So here's a second try, with a more obviously interesting top and more color contrast.

Nice first interpretation, Medusa! (By all means wear a necklace over ruffles). I'd love to see black skinnies on the bottom :0)

I love your second try Medusa. I think you're at the point were you have raised the bar so high on a regular basis that anything short of perfect will not do!

Your second outfit provides more contrast through the colours and that is the ONLY reason why it works better than the first.
