Three things, everyone:

Kendall & Kylie are NOT my cup of tea, and I don't want to bad mouth them on our forum because they are people with real feelings like you and me. They made a KILLER bootie at a good price for my fussy feet so I am looking past how I feel about the sisters and the Kardashian family and supporting the outstanding product. I must give credit where it is due.

Suz, I answered your questions about my cream booties on the blog post, so check back.

I am VERY busy with clients and work - height of the season - hence my scarcity on the forum lately. But I have some time later today to catch up a bit.

Yes! I have to admit that my eyebrows went up a bit when I saw the make. I have this thought about Jessica Simpson things, too. If I'm undecided about the item, it usually nudges me towards "no".

I also, however, admit to owning one pair of Jessica Simpson jeans...which I may even end up wearing tomorrow along with an item from *gasp* Hot Topic. Looking past the brand, yep, sometimes...

Yes, I am totally here with you, Angie. I have a couple of older items from Jessica Simpson that I really liked but was on the fence when I saw the brand. I am really glad I got them because they turned out to be workhorses. I remember you saying all her items were actually made by BCBG so I tried to think about them as "indirect" BCBG. Maybe there is a similar brand behind K+K, too.

This makes me think way back to when I felt weird buying my kid clothes from Walmart, "designed" by the Olsen Twins. That certainly turned out differently than I ever expected.

Great advice, Angie. I actually saw this brand a while ago while looking at booties. I thought, "these are kind of cool.....but K&K....ugh!". But you're right. If you like something and the quality is decent then why not.

I didn't even realize who the brand was. Nice boots, though. So I guess you think I should give Michael Kors another look. I'm just so turned off by his putting his name or initials in big honking letters on handbags in particular that I have refused to look at any of his other stuff.

JAileen.......I feel the same way about Michael Kors putting is his initials on everything. MK are also my initials so I could spin it that way.....but I just find the look off putting.

Generally I ignore brands but the Kardashians are more difficult to ignore. I would definitely buy K&K shoes even though I have mixed feelings about their celebrity. I'm still wondering why Anna featured Kimye in Vogue!

My mum bought a Jessica Simpson travel bag when we were in Hawaii. It was a nice bag apart from the obvious logo. Mum didn't know who JS was, and she didn't care when I told her. We've had a lot of fun teasing each other over that bag (she threatens to carry it shopping together) but it's actually been a great travel bag for her.

Usually I agree, and some of the Kendal and Kylee is cute, but I just cannot see spending my money in any way that makes money for a Kardashian. I like some of the items from both Jessica Simpson and Michael Kors. I have a Michael Kors jacket, it is beautiful and not heavily logoed.

Angie, the K&K brand does not bother me - there are tons of marketing deals and if it is a good product, good for them for choosing well.

Celebrity branding doesn't bug me. But Marc Fischer, he's the one that forced Sigerson Morrison out of their own namesake shoe line.
Also he's been sued for copying styles.

Guilty. I saw another pair of shoes in store yesterday and when I saw it was their brand I didn't even try them on. I don't like obvious branding from anyone (including luxury brands), but I just avoid those styles. Tommy Hilfiger bugs me the most because I love the preppy styles, but many are ruined for me by the huge monograms. One of my favorite pair of shoes are Jessica Simpson, but I have no strong opinions about her personally so I didn't think much about them when purchasing.

Okay, I'm guilty of this. If I see anything from Jessica Simpson, Ivanka Trump or Kardashian I pass. Michael Kors does t bother me. He's a designer through and through. I see his flashiness as efforts to market his brand. In truth, all of these people are downright brilliant at marketing themselves. They know their market and those of us who are naysayers are not their market.. They are smarter than most when it comes to making money, especially Jessica Simpson. Perhaps they deserve my respect for this. They are banking on family names, looks, and hype. It works. People buy this stuff or they wouldn't still be in business. I'm particularly impressed with Jessica Simpson, who turns everything into an opportunity. She's brilliant. She sings and uses that. She gets married to a hunky guy and uses that. She gets pregnant and gains weight and then uses the weight loss. She has a passion for clothing design. What cliche media hyped up thing hasn't she tried? The Kardashians are the same. I have heard mom is the business leader/brains there, who knows? I'm just a shrink sitting here judging. It's easy to do that. It's not easy to make millions.

I am all for giving credit where it is due for a great design, well-made products, and even building a successful brand, but there is one name right now that is guaranteed to never find its way into my closet, even if were the most perfect item ever. Staysfit mentioned it. I'll say no more.

I have to admit that I have refused to try a lot of really nice looking shoes by she-who-Staysfit-named. Just can't do it. There are limits to my sometimes over-eager participation in consumer capitalism, I guess....

If the product in question fits all of my criteria for what I want/need then I will always look past the brand pretty much. I try not to compare the product with the person who has their name on it, they aren't always the ones who even designed it at times.

I like to rise above brand snobbery but with celebrity endorsed lines I do really struggle. If I respect the celebrity I will happily buy their wares but if I struggle to accept a celebrity's choices I just cannot side step my own prejudice.
