Looking for a black suede kitten heel pump that is comfortable for bunions?

"Bunions" is one of those words that connotes some weird elderly illness of yesteryore, like "gout" or "scurvy". Can you think of any others? "Consumption"? "Shingles"?

But I must live with a bunion and therefore must find a fashionable pump in black suede with a kitten heel.

Do any of you have a tried and true pair of these?

If I go into "comfort shoe" territory then I completely lose the elegance that I so crave. Think Emmanuelle Alt. Her black suede pumps seem sky high, but I know I can approximate that elegance with a kitten heel.

I'd check out the Italian brands like ferragamo or Bruno magli. I think they do this style best. My pointy black kitten heels are Bruno Magli and do not bother my bunion. I got mine at the rack last year but in general I think yoox is a good place to find Italian shoes at a discount. of course you could always also go to saks, etc.

Just a warning though - the Italian brands tend to run narrow so if you have a wide foot they might not work. The leather is soft enough to stretch over the bunion though.

Have you ever tried the Stuart Weitzman Poco? They might be worth checking out, Lots of people swear by SW, but comfort is sooo personal.

I had this sort of shoe in mind earlier in the summer, but I was very picky and did not find the exact thing I had in mind. (I wanted black leather, not suede.)

So I think this is the actual Emmanuell Alt one. A 2 inch YSL kitten heel. And it's (high) Alt(itude) in price, too!

Also there are some Miu Mius that could be the one, too.

There are a lot of copycats coming out for this look, but not cheap ones yet that I have seen. I am sure there will be. It's the cone shape of the heel that is the distinguishing feature of this shoe.

Deb and Ummlila you've outdone yourselves! I adore the YSL ones! I think the key word here is "high vamp". I will order the Stuart Weitzman for a try, since the YSLs are backordered. I'd rather have one perfect pair than 5 uncomfortable pairs! We shall see!

I'm all over this too - and my bad-word association with bunion is "spinster" - like the two just might go hand in hand . I have the beginnings of one on my left foot and it is the bane of my existence (well not quite, but you know what I mean). I am so self-conscious of it. Anyways, this high vamp idea made me remember a gorgeous lowish (not quite kitten but not 3 inches either) high-cut pump from Vince that I recently tried on. Comes in black and nude leather and a suede too I think. Gorgeous, but they were $400+ which I could not pull the trigger on. Total EAlt look to them. They are here: (the Celeste)
