Looking back, I think 2012 was a bit of a transitional fashion year with as many misses as hits. I bought a LOT of new things this year and not all of them turned out to be wise purchases. In particular, many of the jackets I bought seem destined to be passed on to new homes. However, I did make some great acquisitions so I will count the year as a success!

Best new acquisition: White Classiques d'Entier jacket from Nordstrom Rack. I wore it at least once a week all summer long and it was absolutely the key piece for my summer wardrobe. (See photo 7.) Runners up: Halogen lightweight cotton blend pencil skirts in prints and solids (see photos 5, 7, and 8).

Best old favorites: My leopard print cardi's from JC Penney, of all places, in both gray/black and brown/gold. They were one of my first purchases after I found YLF in late 2010 and continue to be real wardrobe workhorses: I wore those babies all year long and continue to love them. The cost per wear must be practically nothing by now! (See photos 1, 10, 12, and 13.) Runners up: My trusty Halogen seamed pencil skirts in every color (see photos 9 and 11).

Most unexpectedly fab combination: Gingham and sequins (photo 3). Who knew? Runner up: Neon and leopard (photo 10).

Best outfit that just came together in a panic one morning: Number 11. I was ridiculously pleased with this color combination and felt like a million bucks in it all day long! Aqua/magenta/coral! Who woulda thunk?

Best "Angie's pick:" The Streets Ahead distressed studded belt in photo 11. It cost way more than I'd every dreamed of paying for a belt before, but it really livened up my wardrobe and I am so happy I have it!

Last year's splurge item still going strong: Tie: Kate Spade black-and-white jacket (photo 2) and Kate Spade pink patent pumps with rainbow heels (photo 9).

Most unexpected new wardrobe workhorse: GAP apple green knit blazer (photos 4 and 8). Super comfy, surprisingly versatile. Happiness factor = a million. Runner up: AT Loft striped blazer (photo 5).

Best look imported from France: White skinnies, navy top, tall boots. Merci, Ines de la Fressange. (Photo 6.)

Best replacement for a long-lost friend: Olive slouchies to replace my bleach-spotted olive skinnies (photo 12). Even better because they were purchased at Shoptoberfest with my YLF sisters!!

Most fun copycat: Pink, orange, yellow, b&w outfit copied from Stacy London's new book (photo 9). Big fun!!

Best traveling pants: Mustard skinnies (photo 13). They went to New York with me in February and Asia with me in December! Comfy, stylish, and roomy enough for some fleece-lined tights underneath!

Best sisterhood ever: You all and especially Big Sister Angie! Thanks for a great year, ladies!
