Loft dress - yay or nay

Went to Loft. Angie recommended tall dresses for me there, so ran through quickly. Didn't purchase, as was not on sale in store. However, saw they have a flash sale with no minimum on shipping (my favorite promo combo). So, what do you think? This is the regular. They do have tall online, but don't think I need it for this one.

Also, am returning all Nordstrom dresses I've tried, including a Tommy bahama one I was thinking of keeping. Although picture looks ok, it's too thin IRL, and won't work for what I want, which is sleeves and easy coverage.

Be honest - I can take it. Thanks.

I don't think that you need a tall in that dress. The waist looks like it might be a bit low ( probably the angle of the photo) and the length looks great as it is. Yay.

I think it could look very cute with a belt, I like the cut and fit on you. Not entirely sure about the print and greys tone though, the sleeves have me confused as to their length but that may just be the camera angle.

Regardless, if it's not what you want, and you won't wear it - key words right there- then don't leave it locked up in your closet forever. You can always try it out with other things - different tights boots jackets necklaces etc. If I can't come up with at least 4 different, satisfying outfits with a piece and what else I already own, then it probably isn't worth keeping.

There's actually a self tie fabric belt that I loosely tied. Cou,d be adjusted or put a black belt with, so adjusting is not an issue.

I agree with Joy - it looks like the waist might be a bit low. Or maybe the torso area on the dress is a bit wider than your body making it look a little loose. That's something I'm super picky about myself so could just be the way I'd imagine it on me. A belt (either the self one or a different one) could be perfect to deal with that if it's something that matters to you The length looks good to my eye, as well as the color and subtle pattern, and the double hem thing is really nice. Looks great with the boots too!

I really like the pattern on you but it's hard to say if the fit is correct from this photo.

I may order a size down too and play around with it at home. Try it with a black belt. I've got a long torso, so the self tie is actually about my waist. It does look a bit wide through the middle, but the smaller size may be too small in the shoulders/bust. Sometimes when I get the smaller size I regret it because it doesn't have enough give. If so, that may just be a fit issue and a sign it shouldn't belong to me.

I was just going to ask if you might try the next size down, and then I saw your comment. I think the dress looks adorable on you; I would just want to compare the smaller size, because this one seems plenty roomy. (Not that I'm looking for a close fit in this style; it's just worth comparing, I think.)

Yep I would like a side by side comparison. Go make a frien and ask them to tie your tie. Lol I do it all the time lol it is a pretty pattern

The dress is cute. I like the pattern on you. But I agree with other commenters that you could probably try a size down for comparison.

That dress looks great on you IMO. How does that dress feel if you go one size smaller? .... Accessories can liven up that dress if you so choose. A belt, a chunky necklace, a pair of tights ....

This picture looks better than IRL. so with that said, I'm rejecting this and moving on. My friend saw it in person and shut it down quick. But in any case, I don't love it enough that I would choose it over what I already have.

i dont know if its the angle and the material appears ultra sheer especially at hem. I think one size down may have been perfect or slight lenght alteration..Still cute tho

MsGreer I tried on the size down. the proportions still looked off and it made my shoulders look really wide.
