Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Let the boot quest begin...if you're willing to help!

Angie's recent posts have made me rethink my tall-boot shopping strategy. I've been wanting a burgundy pair for ages, but I'm starting to think a black pair would be more versatile in terms of the hose, skirts and dresses I can wear it with.
Because of my wide calves, I'm a bit more limited as to wear I can shop. Fortunately there seems to be a good selection here:
http://www.widewidths.com
Boots on this site seem to be available in either black or brown exclusively, so that has something to do with the way I'm leaning too. Based on what you see here, do you agree that black would be my best option?

Now to the styles... I'd grately appreciate some input as to which boots look most interesting. Don't worry about heel heights and all that too much at this point. I'll sort through your picks and decide based on that. I'm just after an Ylftastic pair of boots!

Thanks so much, girls. I really must find a way to thank you all, since I can't offer commentary on pics myself.

Oh how fun- a boot hunt!
I do think that black will probably be your most servicable color.
Since I'm on a shopping ban, I can live vicariously through you.
I like these as a casual riding boot:

I really like chewyspaghetti's picks. Here are a few more I like:

My favorites (not in order): Sphere, Scurry, Beckie. I really the brown too. I like the Beckie best... it's very elegant but still modern.

There is the most beautiful burgundy pair on the website, they are mock croc, a texture I know you love and have a small heel of 2". http://www.widewidths.com/mojave1.html

I also think burgundy would work with the brown and black items in your wardrobe.

My absolute favourite is the Beckie style in black, Michelle. I love that type of riding boot, even for smarter occasions.

The world looks lovely too:

If you want a dressier pair with heels, I quite like the Kiersten too:

I have nothing further to add other than that black boots will definitely be more versatile, Michelle. Good call! The gals have shopped gloriously for you :0)

Choose burgandy as your alternative pair?

Thanks for all the guidance, guys. Glad I checked with you.
Angie and everyone, can I please get a CRS on the two pairs I'm considering?
Beckie in black: http://www.widewidths.com/beckie.html (are these super casual or could they work in slightly dressier ensembles too)?

Mojave in burgundy: http://www.widewidths.com/mojave1.html
(is burgundy mock-croc too much)?

Thanks again!

The first pair of boots are lovely, they will work day through to evening, with skinnies and skirts. The second pair will also work with denim and skirts but in my opinion has a more dressier (if that is a word?) feel.

I'm partial to the second pair because I owned burgundy mock croc loafers a few years back. Therefore I will let others judge on their aesthetic?

Both pairs of boots will look wonderful with your teal dress.

Both are beautiful boots. I do think the Beckie will work with dressier ensembles, not just casual. I see them with jeans tucked into them, or with a skirt or dress. I have a pair of boots very similar, except without the buckle detail (which I adore!), and I get lots and lots of use out of them, dressed up or down.

The Mojave is more dressy, perfect for skirts and dresses, and moc-croc is not too much. It adds textural interest. You could wear these also with your darkest-wash, dressiest jeans, either underneath your bootcuts or with skinnies tucked in. It would be a dressier smart casual look. I have found that this color also works beautifully with gray slacks and skirts.

However, what is your shaft height? The Beckie's are 15 inch and the Mojave's are 14 inch. Isn't that a big difference? I would just worry that the Mojave's may be too short and hit at the wrong part of your calf? They seem to be intended as more of a sleek boot than a slouchy one. I think you want the Mojave's to hit up fairly high on the calf? 14 inches on me would work... but I'm only 5'0" so this has me worried because I know you are taller than me!

Yay! Another boot hunt! I love the 2 boots you've picked. I have my fingers crossed that they fit you as well as they look. I'm finding it isn't easy to find boots that fit just right :-(

The Beckie is an absolute 100% in my book. The Mojave is a lot dressier and to my eye the heel looks a lot bigger than 2 inches... I guess just keep that in mind. It's really pretty and a great color/texture combo. Also, Shiny makes a great point about shaft height!

Last year I bought a dress pair of black boots and my riding boots. This year I'm going to just get riding boots. I wore them so much more last year than my dressy boots. If you get a nice pair (like the Beckies) they will work for dresses and jeans. Those are my first choice for you, knowing what you have in your wardrobe. The Mojaves are really pretty and might be good as a second pair for "fun".

I love the black riding boot, the Beckies. They are very sleek, as opposed to a rough and tough riding boot.
The burgundy moc croc look short to me. The boots themselves look like they cut off at their widest point at the top. I would keep shopping for your burgundy pair.

Fabulous as always, ladies. I'll be placing an order for the Beckies next week for sure (pending Angie approval). :) Still undecided about the Mojave's, but inclined to skip it. The snip-toe has potential to be impractical in Canada. But oh, the mock-croc/burgundy combo!! :(

I'm late to the party but the Beckie's are so sleek and versatile. Good choice :)

The burgundy pair is definitely pretty, but I suspect you would get more use from the Beckies that you plan to order due to the heel height - they look like they would be better comfy walking boots when you're out and about with Reva. Also, I don't know about you, but I'm always paranoid about patent getting scratched by doggy feet, and the black Beckies would be easier to match if you're getting them polished/retouched. Just some additional food for thought. I can't wait until you can show us how they work on you!
