LE Oct 19: revamping wardrobe orphans

I am bound and determined to work my wardrobe orphans back into circulation. I have four button down shirts that I've wanted to toss but I can't afford to replace them right now. When I wear a button down shirt with a plain front and regular, pointed collar it feels too predictable to me. This week I'm wearing each of the shirts to breathe some new life into them!

A cardigan with ruffled details along the front, long pearls and beige skinny jeans in boots were my first effort to reincorporate the orphans back into my wardrobe family. :)

You look fantastic, LE! So hip and pulled together. I'm impressed with your orphan challenge. You are fab!

I love this, it looks like a very modern take on equestrian chic!

Day 2: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tall1inart/4032216232

Pink striped button down, beige sweater vest with ruffled neckline, grey wool pencil skirt, beige suede quilted boots.

The private university I work at was visited by corporate representatives yesterday, and our student affairs department went out to lunch with them. (My first power lunch!) the first things out of their mouths after our introduction (since I'm new they hadn't met me before) was, "I love your boots, and wow you're tall!" Gee, thanks. :) I thin the boots and ruffled sweater added some pizazz to the otherwise "classic" button-down and pencil skirt, so I'll wear this again!

It's getting dark outside so this is my first indoor shot. My camera is still dead so my phone had to do, so I apologize for the weird picture proportions.

Both outfits are fantastic! I love the soft colors of the second outfit contrasting with your dark hair.

I love both outfits, LE! The outfit with the vest and skinny khaki pants tucked into the riding boots looks amazing! I do love equestrian inspired outfits!

Thanks ladies! I've been encouraged by your comments to keep trying new things - if there wasn't a group here on YLF I would have given up on wearing these and forcing myself to think outside the box.

Joy - I'm finally coming to accept that I am no longer blonde. :) My hair has darkened from being in the mostly-overcast NW USA, where I either cover up or don't go outside as much as in my previous home states.

Here was today's outfit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/t.....032857101/

I wore a chocolate-colored button down, warm peachy velvet blazer (my new favorite- a splurge item from my J. Crew Associate days), dark denim and gold woven flats with the pearl necklace (again). I feel like the long necklace has been an important part of sprucing up these shirts.
