Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Layering t-shirts over button up shirts

Layering t-shirts over long sleeve button ups is something that I've seen on girls and always wanted to try but never got around to it.

First of all do you think it looks good or abit odd.

secondly whats the best way to do it, like round neck t-shirt or v neck, and colours and such. and should the button up be plain or have some sort of pattern?

I haven't seen this at all. I have seen short sleeve heavier knits over button up shirts.
A picture would be helpful.

I layer sleeveless knit tops over button down shirts often and love the look. Either layer can be patterned, but I don't layer two patterned items (except if an item is a solid color with a pattern in the fabric itself; in that case I will still pair it with a multi-colored layer). T-shirts are trickier unless the fabric is thicker and the t-shirt somewhat shaped. If the fabric of the top layer is too thin, you see too much scrunching of the layer underneath. If the top layer is too boxy (which many tees are), everything just looks sloppy. I typically do v-necks on top, but a lower crew neck can work as well. Agree that pictures would help!
