K/R: yellow gladiators ETA: full length photos

These mustard yellow sandal booties from Fly London arrived tonight (one of the five pairs of Mem. day sale shoes I ordered!). They seem pretty comfy but I can't decide if they are weird cool or weird ugly, LOL. What does YLF think? I'd wear them mostly with skirts and maybe shorts, occasionally under boocuts or something. The color is off in the photos, but it's a mustardy yellow, more dijon than French's. I don't think it's really the best color for my skin tone but then again it's as far from my face as you can get. The top strap looks a little tight in the photos but it's easily adjustable (it's actually velcro although you can't tell.)

One other consideration: I am seriously considering getting these black gladiators in the last photo (super comfy, looks way better on my foot than in the photo) but are these too similar in style? The black ones have a lace-up front that I like and is probably more flattering than all the horizontal buckles on the yellow ones.

Whoa, there, girl! Those are some sandals. I love all of those yellow buckles! I like that they are super fun and somewhat low contrast. The yellow and the black are two different animals and I like them both a lot!

Wow. I kind of like them. I mean I really like them. They're definitely weird, but what can I say? They appeal to me somehow. I can see them working well with a lot of your outfits, Diana. They'd look great with your teals.

do not get the black...so boring compared to the yellow. weirdly, i think of them as sort of "nudes". is that wrong????

I love the yellow way more than the black, and I think the yellow would be more leg lengthening, too. Can we see a full body shot?

I really like them. Fun. Weird cool. Love the row of buckles.
However, you might not need both pairs - do you prefer the fit & style of the black pair? I prefer the color yellow over black - for your warm weather needs, anyway.

I think the black are different enough, but though I'm a black fiend, I am totally getting away from black for summer shoes/sandals because of the leg shortening issues. I like "nude for me" pale taupe or pale sand, or pale gold or silver, or pale taupy-pink. I agree the yellow is almost a nude for you, how utterly amazing! Rock it!

Black can look ugly if worn wrong but not yellow becasue of the lighter color. So go for yellow. And yes think will look great with skirts and shorts. Can't wait to see it styled.

Surprisingly, I think yellow sandals can work very well as a "neutral". I have some yellow sandals, and I find that they go with just about everything, and add an some interest to an outfit.

I really like the yellow ones --- the buckles and strapping are really neat, and the colour is great, and the toe shape suits your feet well. I don't like the black ones as much at all.

I love these! I do love the color and all those buckles, but I especially love that little heel. Very unique and I mean that in the most fashionable and amazing way.

I have been eyeing gladiators lately, and these are weird in a cool, funky way. Definitely go for the yellow rather than the black. They look comfy too -- are they? Agreed with the others that I'd love to see a full body photo with an outfit!

Thanks for the input everyone! Seems like these are probably worth keeping. I just added a couple of full-length photos with today's outfit.

The black ones look way better on my foot than in the stock photo, so it's not quite fair to compare them, I think. Kelly is right, though, that they are completely different animals, and they do give off completely different vibes. In any case, the black are too expensive right now so I need to wait for a sale, and I do have other black sandals.

Janet, I've been walking around the house a bit in them and they seem pretty comfy so far. And, oddly, they seem to have some arch support, which is very important for me. The sole is actually a small wedge which is way easier for me to walk on than true flat soles.

Yup. I like the yellow. They seem to show off your tiny ankles without chopping off your feet visually.

Last question: is his outfit representative of a typical summer outfit for you? While they are physically flattering, there is a masculine/warrior vibe to them that could be hard to wear with feminine, retro-Victorian-esque looks.

I think they are fab!! Very bold and cool, and I love them with the skirt! I really like a little heel like that too (better than flats).

Rae, one of the reasons I am somewhat obsessed with gladiators at the moment is that I feel like my summer dressing is lacking that hard-edged, urban element for contrast, because I can't wear boots, most jackets, too much big jewelry touching my skin, etc. I like the contrast between feminine and masculine, although I suspect that black gladiators might be better with this particular outfit. (if you look at my WIW today, I am actually wearing black shoes today).
