Thanks for loving the floral Angie and IK - but I did return it to the store. I found while I was trying it with the jackets, every time I raised my arms, the waistband crept up to the boobage area - it was driving me NUTS!

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

LOL, Shannon. Sorry I didn't notice that there was no flounce. And I'm sorry that you had to return it for uncomfortable-boobage-issues. You were obviously having fun in it!

Shannon, the green dress is all kinds of gorgeous on you! Hooray!

I liked the fit of the floral dress but not the print. I think you kept the right dress!

Popped back as I was keen to read Angie's thoughts on the floral dress. I anticipated that she would like it It make me wonder how much of what we like and don't like relates to associations we make with certain garments and styles, etc There is no question the floral is a pretty dress but it made me think of the floral dresses I often see more "matronly" women wearing - Shannon there is nothing matronly about you BTW - and I have to admit that was one of the things that kind of put me off it.

I was thinking the same as Deborah. When I opened the picture of you in the floral dress I was immediately reminded of my grandmother! I liked it better with the white jacket but the green one is a keeper.

I like the ikat dress a lot!

The floral is so not in my style zone, I'm loathe to comment. I'm not loving it nearly as much as the other one.

You should be a spokesperson for Cleo!

I liked that floral dress too! A lot! (But hey, could be because I didn't have aunts and grandmothers wearing anything remotely like it! To me it just looks delightfully retro and fun )

I confess I hesitated over pattern placement on the green... from the back, and not the front a la Rae! The large dot in the centre seemed to drag your waistline up high, to my eye --- but then I realized you'd usually have a topper on top, so all is *swell*! (Natalie's thread has put all sorts of old-fashioned, especially Brit, adjectives in my head now!)

Love nr 1, its a fab dress! Nr 2 has to go back Shannon, sorry to be a mare, It's pretty but not fab enough for your current style!

Really interesting how the try-on was the kicker here. I was going to weigh in and say I loved both dresses, and I really see the value of one like that floral for more casual wear...but if it feels lousy, it has to go back, no matter what!

Shannon, is there any seam allowance on the bottom of the green one in case you want to make it a touch longer? Don't get me wrong - I think it looks great as is! But if you are wanting that extra bit of length....

Or maybe the regular size one would fit?

I'm not even reading the other responses first -- I love #1 on you! #2 is nice, but I don't love the color, print, or cut nearly as much as #1. I hope you keep it!

Shannon -- I'm chiming in way too late here, but I'm in the minority anyway. I really like both dresses on you. Both silhouettes are very flattering, and the colors and prints look great. I also like how you've styled each one, especially when you put the white denim jacket with them. I'm no expert and still learning every day, so put my comments aside -- most importantly, you have to feel fab in them!

I'm late to the party but just wanted to say that first dress is killer! So modern and flattering. The second dress was nice and looked great with all the jacket examples. I never really thought negatively about "ditsy florals" I just think of them as pretty and feminine until I posted one as a K/R/ here and it got slammed, so I have learned my lesson.

YAY !!! I also think that you made a good call. Shannon lookin' all 10 .

It seems we just can't let this thread R.I.P! Sorry, just had to weigh in and say I second your choice. Love the green dress and the pattern placement (upside-down heart thingy) at your hips actually whittles your waist visually. And I, for one, never check out another woman's crotch to see if there's an errant pineapple printed there. Just sayin'.

Love dress #1 and think the pattern is gorgeous and that teal green is lovely! It is more body con but you have a divine hourglass shape in that dress Shannon. Plus, the dress is very versatile.

Dress #2 isn't my favorite print but it does have a cool retro vibe. Do they make the same cut in a solid or alternate print?
