K/R Sweaters from Gap, part 2

Got my sized-down versions of the sweaters from this thread. What do you think?

#1 - #2 They were sold out of the v-neck in the light blue that originally caught my eye, so this one is a different style. I still like the color (I think it's quite similar to the color of the other sweater). I bought the tall, because I like that tunic length - and the extra long sleeves are also a "plus" for me (I'm likely to wear them scrunched up further - but left them down for this pic). The shoulder fit is good, I think - but is the length swamping? I'll likely wear is as shown (minus the just-unpacked wrinkles) - untucked or semi-tucked with bootcuts, boyfriends or skinnies.

#3 - A different size of the colorblock that I tried. I still don't really think it works. Do you agree? It gives me pause, because it's the exact same sweater (same size too) as #1-#2, just a different colorway. Which makes me think that I'm not seeing some inherent flaw in the way #1 fits.

#4 is the same sweater again - but a shorter size (L, rather than LTall). It's a pale blush with pale tan (oatmeal? beige? heather?) colorblocking for the arms and back. I think I like it - but is the color okay on me?

What are your thoughts on these? Any worth keeping?

Ok, here are my immediate thoughts.
1. the volume on volume and sleeves being down is throwing me. Initial thought is that you need regular, not tall. but on to #2
2. Looking way better here. Liking the scrunch, but now with the semi (or faux is it) tuck, to my eye, there is a lot of bulk at the back (due to the tall sizing I suppose).
3. Looks too big, the seam looks skewed and too long, also when compared to 4 I didn't like the high contrast on you
4. Looks like the winner in the bunch to me. I like the softer tones on you and the sizing looks way better IMHO

ETA: can you try the solid blue sweater with sleeves scrunched but with a more fitted bottom, like skinnies or leggings, and with the hem down like a tunic (not tucked)?

1. I am with abc -- i think you need the regular vs. tall in that one. BUT, I like it a lot better when you semi tuck and scrunch the sleeves.

3. Looks too big, not fitting right.

4. Like the fit of this one a lot.

LOVE #4! I think that's the right size and color for you. Not loving the size of #1. I think you need a regular rather than a tall. #3 still isn't really cutting it. For me, it's something about the way the side seaming makes it hang, and because the colors are such high contrast, that seaming really jumps out at you. Did that make sense?

Thanks Suz and abc - I think I'll stop by the store and see if they still have the non-tall and will do an exchange (the in-store price is more than double what I paid online).

I added a pic of it with skinnies - tunic style. I just added my other tunic style sweater to the purge pile, so I'm kind of on the lookout for a long sweater - which is why I bought the tall

YES! 5 looks great! Now you just have to decide if you are ok limiting its wear to be as a tunic and not a sweater. At least that would be my decision point. I don't think it can work as a sweater (tucked like in #2 for example) and also a tunic at the same time, but maybe your tolerance for the bulk while tucking is different than mine. Decisions, decisions.

I really like #4 on you! I do like the colour of the first one, but I don't think the size works.

amy--re: instore price being more than the on line price---i had that happen to me and after asking nicely, the store did an exchange for me so that i still got the on line price. but i had to ask.

I agree, #4 is the best - fit looks good and color is good too. #1 would be better in the regular size I think.

Okay, so back to the sweaters. I am really not loving any of them. None of them are an 8+ in my book. I think the best of them is the first one tucked. But that would bug me and feel fussy to me as I much prefer my tops to be worn untucked. But untucked, it is too long. Fab color, though.

I'm currently thinking that given how chilly I run in winter, these may all go back in favor of a truly warm sweater.... These are mid-warmth - not chilly, but also probably not warm enough to meet my wintry needs....

I vote return the whole lot, Amy. Opt for styles that are shorter and chunkier.

But from this post I learned how gorgeous you look in mid-tones, like that French blue. The tan and blush combo is lovely too.

Thanks Angie - that's exactly what I'll do. I'm going to keep watching for a blue sweater this color.

Fit wise 4 is the best but I don't love the color on you, and the rest of them don't seem up to snuff. The blue is a lovely color on you but the fit is just off somehow.

I agree with your plan --- to look for chunkier, shorter sweaters. Of these, however, I really like #4. I know it's frustrating to work so hard and not keep anything, but I think the discovery of blush and french blue -- and learning more about fits -- will pay off for you in the long run.
