K/R Jolt White Cropped Denim Jacket- An expensive error?

Good Morning All,
I am struggling with this jacket and I think I know why!
This was my first order from Nordstrom and as I live in Australia the postage was expensive. I think I need to size down because the jacket is a little wide at the shoulders and I won't wear it buttoned-up in the warmer weather.
Does anyone know if it is likely to shrink at all when washed, or should I try to exchange for the next size down and cop the extra shipping costs?

I think it is big in the shoulder but I'm not sure if sizing down will resolve it. I think the jacket is cut with a more generous back. I'm hoping others will shed better light. It's harder to advise given the added shipping cost.

this may or may not help, since I don't know if there are Ross stores in your country, but I found a similar jacket in the juniors dept. at Ross for $13. I wear a petite small in ladies, but got a medium in this jacket.

You could try adding a shoulder pad...much cheaper than shipping, I'm sure!

It doesn't look too big to me - it looks like a great fit! I bet it will shrink a little but not much.

Now that I've seen the right-sized photos - I think it looks pretty good! The jacket isn't necessarily 100% perfect, but in my opinion - it's fairly close and you shouldn't feel bad at all. It's a nice jacket on you, and I would *not* spend the extra money in return shipping costs, plus re-ordering and subsquent shipping costs to get it totally perfect. If you tried to return it and spent the extra money on shipping costs, and ordered a size down - it's entirely possible that the size down might be too sized down, if you know what I mean.

This jacket is pretty perfect if you ask me. No, it's not like it was custom-made just for you, but I think it looks very good.

Here's hoping Angie and others see this post, because I think the jacket is really nice on you, and that even though it's not 110% perfect in the shoulders, it's still fabulous. It's not an error at all - in fact, I think this is as close as you can get in terms of it being cropped in just the right place, and it fits you quite well.

Lyn, I think the jacket looks like a fairly good fit! I would not send it back. As velvetychocolate points out, a size smaller might end up too small. I think you look great in it.

Are you OK with the sleeves not being full length? I bought a Jolt jacket in red but haven't decided if I'm keeping it, because the sleeves are cropped--too long to be elbow length but too short to be full length. I'd have to roll them to make them elbow length.

Goldenpig, I don't mind the sleeve length, it is mainly the shoulders that are concerning me and just that niggling feeling- what if the size smaller is perfect!

Shoulder fit is one of my big style priorities - I would personally size down because an un-tailored looking shoulder drives me bananas. I know shipping is a terror, but if you feel you ultimately won't wear it, then you're out the entire cost.

I'm an Australian too, and when I buy from Nordstrom, the postage is so expensive and the returns process is such a headache, I find it easier to sell it on Ebay!

Is this the junior sized Jolt jacket? I bought the medium in red and it fit me very, very similarly. (I generally take a Petite 4 or sometimes a P2.) I tried the small but really couldn't get into it as it was significantly smaller EVERYWHERE. In fact, I was rather shocked at the difference. I eventually returned the jacket because I decided it was too intense a red for me and I wanted a closer cut since the Jolt was big enough to layer big time underneath.

I later bought the petite Ralph Lauren red jeans jacket sold at Nordstroms. It is a slightly orange red with a bit of a faded look that suits me better and is cut slimmer. (The Nordstrom photo is TTL.) IMHO, neither jacket has that slim cropped cut of the stretch jeans jackets that go well with dresses. I think the Lauren jacket comes in white and is currently on sale. It is long sleeved.

I've only tried on a handful of jeans jackets, but the cuts seem to be all over the map. I guess that's a good thing, but I wish each of us could wiggle her nose and the right jacket would magically appear. IMHO, the Jolt has an unusual cut. I think it looks better on you and me than on my teen daughter who has a more typically junior body.

Yes Donna it is the Junior jacket in size Large. I think that in view of the general consensus and your post re. size differences it would be un-wise to exchange and risk the Medium being too small. Lesson learned. I will check-out the R.L. anyway!

I actually like the jacket on you. The shoulders don't look obviously big in the photos. Generally I think the fit looks pretty good.

Is it worth ordering the size down and then selling that one you decide not too keep on Ebay?

lyn, the equivalent would be savers. there is one in the melbourne 'burbs. may be one in your area too?

jacket actually loos good to me. seems to hang well.

Taking everything into consideration, I think it looks fine! I would wash it in hot water and dry it in the dryer (if you use one) and go with it. I love the detailing on the front.

I think it looks great. I think washing and drying is worth a try if you want to shrink it a bit. Otherwise, enjoy it because it looks cute!

Denim always shrinks a bit no matter what the manufacturers claim in my experience. It isn't too big in all over fit and once you wash it, the fabric will unstiffen a bit and lay better. I say keep it.

I think it looks perfect. Everyone seems to go for these denim jackets quite snug these days but I like them fitting exactly like yours does. I would not bother with trying another size. How do you like the jacket?
