K/R: help me decide

I have been wanting a white casual vest for summer since last spring and decided to send for the Old Navy version in two sizes. Photos 1 and 3 show the XS and 2 and 4/5 are S. XS is more cropped, S is more boxy. Which should I keep? Or should I keep looking? I have a faded denim vest that fits more like the XS. What do you think?

I would go with the S for a more boxy fit.

But I would also take a peek in the kids' department. That is where I got my Old Navy white denim jacket a few years' back. It was a lot cheaper and better made!

I tried the kids dept at a store and they didn't have any vests, but I didn't think to try on-line. Good idea. It would probably be cropped AND boxy.

I prefer the XS on you, but I am unclear as to the look you are after.

I like XS better for wearing with the dress. But I may be a little behind the times. I think it will be a great piece for your wardrobe in any case.

Truly, I cannot see a difference in these photos, Joy. Which size feels better?

Angie, the XS feels more like I'm used to with frocks. It is shorter and more fitted. It would be a snug fit if buttoned up. The Small is a bit longer and would fit buttoned up. It is boxier with larger arm holes, but doesn't look intentionally oversized. I think that the small looks best with pants and shorts.
It seems silly to keep both vests. Both are equally comfortable worn open. Another thought is that my first choice of a casual white summer vest would be a white denim (washable) moto-style, and maybe I should hold out for that. I would like the vest to casualize dresses like a denim jacket does cooler weather and to wear with a tank and clams in hot weather as a third piece that covers some of the bareness of a tank when needed.

Below are photos of the Small vest ( larger size) with linen pants taken the day I received both. The XS came a few days later and no photo yet with pants but I did slip it on and thought it looked off proportionally.

Oh my, I love this white on white on white look on you. I love the way the top underneath the vest just sort of peaks out and adds some softness. Brilliant. I want.

I like the small with the linen pants. If you're going to keep one, you might keep the small, as there is not that much difference in the looks with the dress.

I prefer the XS. In pic 4, it looks like the small is a bit too wide across the shoulders.

Joy such a great vest:). I cannot see any difference in the sizes...and I looked hard:). I say choose the one that you feel best in. Great addition to your summer wardrobe.

Joy - fab on you!! I too can't see a big difference. Why don't you style them both in other outfits and see which length and shape works better for you!! Great pick for summer!!

I can't see too much of a difference, but if the small works better with everything including your linen pants then I'd go with that. They both look great!
