Both pieces are from Ralph Lauren.

The top is crocheted with a built in tank. Not sure it is flattering or works for my style.

The skirt is actually silky and flows and twirls well. I just worry it might make me look much older than I am.

I don't want to settle, so please give me your honest feedback!

I like the idea of this but think the top is too long for the skirt. Does it work to semi tuck? Maybe that would also help the outfit to look more youthful. I wish the top were white.

I like each piece separately but not together. I think the skirt would look nice with a white or coloured wrap top, and the black top would look nice with your blush trousers, white trousers, and your flippy blue and red skirt.

I LOVE the skirt and know it well. It moves beautifully!!

I vote return the top. The sleeves are bordering on unflattering cap, and not quite diagonal. Nice concept though.

It's true that it's all in the styling! I like the idea of a textured sweater for you, just not this one. As for the skirt, I like the shape and print, as long as you have three toppers to wear with this that give it a more modern look. I think it would work well with color on top, and with a belt, perhaps!

I have a black wrap top, a white wrap top, a white v-neck and a black v-neck. I had never thought of pairing colors with it.

Would you do bright colors or muted colors?

Agree nay on the top. I like the boxy & texture but I have the same issues, that sleeve is not so good. It is very commonly done so hard to find a good short sleeve in summer tops. .

Also like the idea of lighter tops and recommend you experiment before making a final decision on the skirt. You don't want a skirt orphan so probably you would like the neutral pattern to function kind of as a neutral, and go with several tops that give different looks. Color--just play around, Although it's B&W, it "reads" more mid-range tone, so my first impresson is that it will look best with non-jewel tones/brights to have a similar degree of intensity--but the proof will be in the pudding. Compare with today's blog on Kelly--her B&W skirt was very high contrast, but your print seems softer in the photos. However, the proof will be in the pudding--I'd try it on with tops you have that you might not wear with the skirt due to style, but that are in different colors, to get some ideas. Or if a deeper top, then adding some white might work, too.
