K/R: Current Elliot cropped straight

From the NAS...I am waiting for more tops and a pair of flat ankle strap sandals to arrive to pair with them. These are 27 and the 28's on the way. My summer wardrobe is miserably small, but I am working on it!

Anyway, I just paired them with a couple of different tops (J crew drapey t and a tank from the 80's that I had cropped) and my Veronica Frye combat boots and some utility sandals. I am mostly wondering about length and overall fit.

They look like their fit and length are perfect, especially when worn with those boots.

They're awesome! I particularly love them with the combat boots. They work with the sandals too.

Not sure if I love them with the tucked top in #1 but I think that's just my personal preference for untucked tops showing through. How high is the rise? It looks a bit high in #1 but lower in #2. But again that's just my personal preference for lower rise; as long as it's comfy I think you're fine.

They look great. This is the right size.

The footwear in #2 works better with the jeans. Ankle straps or high vamped shoes are best with the cropped style.

The boot looks great, a smoother line. This helps me "see" what is best to wear with cropped jeans.

Sizing looks spot on but it is important to feel comfortable in your jeans so trying both sizes on will be helpful to you. A clerk in Nordstrom last week told me to size down in the olive Rag & Bone skinny distressed jean. The 30 felt so comfy but there was room in the waist and the material gathered at the knees. She said the 29 (my usual size) would be better in the long run because there would be some stretching out. Those jeans are 3% spandex, and the rest is tencel and cotton. She said there isn't a lot of expanding with 3% but anything over that would equal expanding. Still, she encouraged me to order a 29 and not settle for the 30 in stock. The order arrived and those jeans are tighter for sure but better in the waist and knees. I hope they do stretch out now!

I wish there was a surefire litmus test for deciding which jeans fit or not. I am usually told that opting for the tighter fit now will mean a more comfortable fit later. But getting a jean that is not tight and perhaps relaxed now will mean a sloppy jean later.

How true is that in your experience, everyone?

Thanks for the replies! I was most uncertain about the length, so your responses helped me. My plan is to wear the boots with these in the cooler weather. I hope the ankle strap sandals work when they arrive.

Diana, I believe it is mid-rise. I think I'm most comfy in mid to high rise. I probably just hiked them up a little higher in the first picture. I often have to get my jeans nipped at the waist to hold, but we'll see how these stretch over time.

CJ, for more fitted styles, I try to make sure the jeans fit my hips well, and then I nip at the waist if needed. For more relaxed style, I wear a belt to help hold them up. In my limited experience, jeans often seem snug to start and then loosen where I need them to.

Tags are off. I changed my shirt to a Vince Little Boy tee and switched to Converse to go to the grocery store and run an errand with the kids.

You were right to take the tags off, the fit looks perfect and they look great on you. I have the same jeans and I am going to steal your idea and wear them with my white T and converse for errands. But I really can't wait to wear them with heels and booties in the fall.

Never mind - found them. They are $315 Cdn! Why oh why? I just cannot pull the trigger at that price , although I really, really want these. Anyone seen a version this undone hem, cropped length at a lesser price point?
