So what do you think? Could this be my one casual sweater for the australian winter?

ETA - I have changed the title to include ask Angie as I felt I was getting a lot of people going both for and against. And I just can't make up my mind!

I like the color blocking. It's very flattering and looks cozy. Looks like a great piece for winter!

It might not work for any type of tuck, and I kind-of wish the colours were reversed. Dark on the outside instead of the other way round.
But being picky here!

It would be great if you could also wear with black bottoms etc for versatility too, especially if it is the only one, and I am just not sure if this IS the one

Anne, it's nice but I am wondering if versatility is important? I can see it over black skinny jeans and of course blue denim. I think I might have liked the colours to be reversed also.

I'm with Deborah and Lyn on the colours. And yes, if it is your sole sweater, it needs to be very versatile for you -- should look great with denim for sure, and any other casual bottoms. So that is something to check. And can you wear it several ways. Can you layer under it. Does it look good with a scarf. Does it fit under your coat? These would be my thoughts if I were choosing a single jumper for the season.

I'm just going to echo what the others said - I like the color blocking, but if it is the only sweater, make sure it is versatile and you can make several outfits with it.

hmmm. can i ask why you have designated this as casual only sweater? i think that this would work with a pair of black or gray work pants or skirt.

Khards I meant that I only buy one sweater for casual wear each year, not that it is only to be worn that way. Though that thought hadn't occurred to me. I had only thought of wearing it with jeggings.
Suz good thoughts for things to check.

I'm really not sure if I like it for 2 reasons 1. It reminds me of the 80 a decade I don't love 2) it is waist obscuring and makes me look blocky. It ends at my widest point. Most of my casual sweater over the years have been longer and more form fitting so this is a real departure. But this is the fashion right? Thus the need for your Opinions!
Seems to be about half/half!

Just wanted to add, that I am happy to do waist obscuring in dresses and longer items.

Also is this maybe not big enough!!

I am going to try on lots of jumpers at B&M today and see if I can find one that's better!

I love, love, love this on you. I actually think the colors work. The lighter gray shoulder draws the eye up. I like where it ends--I noticed that specifically. I think it makes you look curvy and feminine, not wide at all.

If I owned this sweater I would wear it with:

1. black pants
2. navy pants
3. blk/wh houndstooth pants (very fine pattern)
4. jeans
5. possibly cobalt pants, to continue the colorblocking
6. possibly oxblood pants, ditto
7. black tube skirt
8. charcoal tube skirt
9. white jeans

I am just listing items in my wardrobe that I would try with this sweater. I think it is a winner.

Wonderful sweater. I can't see your whole view, but I don't think the length is a problem, and I love the colors. I think the fit is actually pretty good, too. That said, if your sweater wardrobe is a little scanty right now, you might look for something more versatile.

You say that you purchase one casual sweater each season. I'd lay out the casual sweaters that are currently wearable and see if there are, euphemistically, any "holes" to fill.

I am not including thin sweaters that are more like tops - but thinking of a sweater that can be a standalone item.

Report back from lunchtime shopping. I think I have left my dash too late - I am really in the dregs of the winter stock at this point. Plus I have an aversion to
1. loose meshy looks
2. Nubbly textures
3. Anything that reminds me of what my Dad or an old person may have worn in the 80s and 90's
4. The colour grey (I only keep buying it because it is so hard to avoide
5. Aztec inspired decoration

There's really not much left.

I wish I had bought an Ezibuy one that I liked at the beginning of the season but has since sold out. The one in this thread is also from Ezibuy and to be truthful I wouldn't have bought it from a shop (but then, see above - I don't buy much from shops!) And some of you are very positive about it and I will lose postage both ways if I return it

Its a pretty sweater - but you say that you want to be able to wear it with jeggings - and if that is the case, then in my opinion this sweater is not long enough. A sweater to wear with jeggings needs to be more tunic length!

I think this sweater is gorgeous. The way the black part goes in gives you a waist. And although it ends at your widest point, you don't look at all big.

Is it soft?

Stylish, modern, if comfortable, I vote Keep!

I like the colors on you, Anne. Like Marley, I don't think this sweater is long enough for jeggings..even if they are skinny-like. It also looks like the knit could be clingy. Is it a substantial fabric? To my eye it should completely cover your bottom more like your other sweater, the long blue one.

Okay I'll be word-picky. It looks like a knit longsleeve top and not a sweater in the photo. For me those are 2 different things. More like a jersey. But you did say casual. And I don't know the fabrication or the Australian winter weather.
