K/R: Banana Republic white leather jacket (more pics added)

I got these both 40% off at Banana Republic. What do you think? Are either of these keepers, or do I have sale goggles on? I am showing both open and zipped, although I almost never wear my jackets zipped up. ETA--not really styled how I would wear them, just thrown over my other outfits.

Tweed moto--size 6

ETA: Tweed moto has been returned. Added some more styled pics with the white leather moto. The only one i like is with the olive tee. I think this is a return too, right? It doesn't seem to be playing well in my closet.

I think both jackets are pretty. I am not sure the proportions look right with the outfits - seem a little short, or maybe it's the longer top throwing me off. Think I would like them with a higher waist skirt or pant. Curious what others think too.

I see you got your little photo bomber in at the end.

I don't love them, Natalie - they seem a bit boxy and not a great fit. It's not you, it's this style.

I find this style very hard to wear as a short-necked apple-ish IT. The front never lays properly.

Neither of these are really styled, although I agree it feels like they would be a lot more work to style than the black leather moto I posted in my other K/R thread. And you're right Una, I'm not sure this copped boxy style works on apples. I have to admit I am not as invested in these two as I am in the other one, but I was tempted because they'd been in my cart for a long time and when the 40% sale came around I pounced. Hmmm....

And yes Delurker, little photo bomber is never far away!

Now,I like the white one, but I think the sleeves are too long. Whether they are too long for you, or for the proportions of the jacket, I'm not quite sure. They seem long compared to the body length. I don't care for the way the front of the tweed is lying.

I think I would like th white one with the sleeves taken up a bit.

This is hard. I bought the tweed moto because I adored it. It is well made and quite beautiful, but there is something *off* about it. It seems too short in the body and too long in the sleeves. I see the same problems on you as well. Maybe if it were just one or two inches longer in the body, it would all balance out.

These jackets look better proportioned for dresses or for weaing over top of a flowy top...

I think these have potential but we'd need to see them styled.

Una already expressed what I thought when I looked at the photos. Of the two, I prefer the white one on you (and would be curious to see it styled with a low-contrast outfit), but I agree that even that seems a bit too high-necked and boxy. Even though we have different body types, I find those type of collarless styles difficult to wear too. The tweed one looks a bit bulky somehow.

These are both gorgeous jackets but I do see what the others see. They aren't as flattering as what you normally wear although I'd love to see them styled as you'd wear them. That leather especially could be a versatile piece.

I prefer the white leather to the tweed which looks too large for you. Do you work with a tailor who can take it in? If so it may be worth it if you don't have anything like it and the price of tailoring isn't too high. The typical cost I pay to get a jacket tailored is $40-80 depending on what is needed. The leather jacket may also be a bit big but I would need to see it styled. These aren't the best I've seen for you.

I love the white leather jacket on you. The sleeves are a little long but they can be shortened. White makes outfits very lively.
The tweed jacket is nice but you may want to try the petites size, that way it will fall a little shorter.
You inspired me to order and I ordered the tweed jacket in three sizes, including one in petites. I already have a Danier white leather jacket that I love, otherwise I would copy yours, too.

I actually think Angie recommends this cut of jacket for apples, but the fit has be really good. Whenever I try, I just feel square and boxy rather than elegantly insouciant.

Have you seen this Zara tweed jacket? Better neckline but same idea.

I like both jackets when you wear them unzipped. Photos #1, 5, and 6 look best. I guess it's not practical to own jackets that you never wear closed. However, that's how I wear my denim jacket since I waited too long to return it.

I like the white one much better than the tweed one, but even it could use some sleeve alterations. With better styling, the moto has some possibilities but I think you already have much nicer jackets.

I love the white (scrunch the sleeves!) but think the tweed should go back. Your closet is full of items that look much more fab on you.

I like the colour and finish of the white leather jacket a lot. I prefer it unzipped on you. But I struggle with these kind of boxy, collarless styles so I would proceed with caution. I am not as keen on the tweed jacket.

I like the white leather jacket - that might be useful for the summer. It fits nicely and I like the braided detail - it makes it a little laid back.

I love your distressed denim outfit but agree with others than the tweed is not quite right. I see where you're going with this though. I like the idea of mixing distressed denim and tweed -- I just don't think the fit is quite right. Or maybe the colour. Maybe in black (or pink!) would be better.

I'm a very intuitive dresser so I'm terrible at the "why" but I think these are just ok. I think your fab closet deserves better.

I think how you style the white one will make all the difference. I can't wear these boxy crops without something tailored or fitted underneath. Floaty or softly voluminous just doesn't work for me because it accentuates my IT/apple leanings.

On the tweed jacket, this particular one doesn't seem to be a great fit. However, if you love it, I'd go try it on in store and try on a bunch of them. I confess: I have this one and I love it. However, I wear it with something fitted underneath and I tried on four or five of them to find the one with the absolute best fit for me. When I'm searching for the best possible fit in a jacket at BR, I also always try on petites. With BR jackets, most of the time the petite fits me better (not this time, though). So, if you love it, then try on more. If not, send it back.

Thanks everyone! Tweed moto is going back, you are right it just doesn't work on me. Leather one I may try to style some more, but I don't want things to get too complicated. Not sure if it's going to be a workhorse so maybe I should just let it go.

Good decision regarding the tweed jacket. As lovely a piece as it is, the fit wasn't right for you. The white leather jacket has potential. Play with styling it to see if it will work with your other wardrobe pieces.
