1. Allsaints Isa.

Are the Allsaints dresses the right size? Obviously they are unpressed. They came rolled up, all three together, in a package smaller than a shoe box. I'm spoiled from Nordstrom's hanging bag shippers -- the clothes arrive in better condition.

I am not sure about sizing. I adore the Isa dress on you. The other two just are not sitting and draping the way I expect. I am not loving them. How comfortable do they feel? If it were my choice it would #1. Love the colour, the design, the fit and you look comfortable ...and you look great in it.

not sure if its the color, size or a combination of the two, but something is "off" with both the Abi and the Nise…they both seem to just hang instead of flow. the Isa is great, and i agree, this is the one.
and i'm still a fan of Trina Turk dress.

Love the Isa - great shape, colour and length. This looks like something you could wear dressed up or down.
The second one seems too full at the front, and the third one may be a touch short.

I like the Isa. But for the cruise with mom I am not so sure; it depends on how you accessorize. It's the colour I wonder about. But it is a lovely dress on you and if you would be likely to wear it afterwards, go to it!

I still think the purple one is most flattering on you. Absolutely stunning. Although we discussed last time whether it seemed "cruise-like" enough.

I really don't care for the way the other dresses are draping, although it might be useful to see the Nise pressed. OTOH, if it crumples up like this in transit, is it the right dress to bring in the first place?

Also like the Isa best and Nise second best. I like the purple but it is a different kind of thing altogether.

Ah darn, I wrote a reply and then lost it.

I love the white tones on you, but neither of those dresses are fab enough for you -- they don't drape well enough. The first one is better, but I'm still not wowed. See how in the stock photo, the hem is clearly asymmetrical, and the gathers at the hip drape and create a diagonal line? I like that effect, but it doesn't look like the fit in real life works the same. The gathers are creating horizontal wrinkles across your hips, which makes it look like it's pulling, to my eye. Keep in mind I'm really sensitive to things like the appearance of pulling across the hips because of my own figure issues. Maybe Allsaints cuts for very IT shapes (wouldn't surprise me, because i've never found anything there that works for me). If this doesn't bother you, and you love the dress, feel free to ignore me!

I really like the first dress in the olive green. I like the boots you've paired it with. I don't like the white ones as well. The last two colored dresses are both very flattering on you.

Oh so fun! I am agreeing that my fav is the Isa. Having said that, when we see all the dresses in a row, I like the Trina Turk best for the cruise! But the Isa is very "you" and I like the colour on you, plus the pairing with the boots.

I have a small thought. Over the last couple of weeks, I've browsed through some of the "cruise wear" collections that are about to be released. They mainly are separates. Given your casual lifestyle the rest of the year, maybe you don't need to invest in dresses, but could put together a dressy seperates
capsule that could carry over to your ranch life? Just a thought, and carry on with the dresses if they're the best option for you.

At any rate, I'm envious of your upcoming trip, hope you and your mom have a wonderful time.

I think it's length, cut, and colour all combined on that purple one. It's truly flattering.

Maybe dresses don't have to be avant garde. Maybe a dress can just be a dress?

Or maybe that's just my own modern classic preferences burning through.

The Trina Turk is so simple and chic on you! I like the Isa, but I see what Janet described and wonder if trying a size up might make the asymmetrical hem hang better and look more intentional.

I adore the TT purple -- it's a gorgeous cut and color on you. Of course, it's not your typical style, but only you can determine whether that's a good thing (a pleasant outlier) or a bad thing (wearing someone else's clothes)! #1 is also fab, and very much is your core style, but doesn't read quite as dressy, perhaps.

My favorite by a mile is #5. So flattering and even sexy in a lady-like way. It seems like a classic that won't date. My second choice is #1. I think it is the length and that it seems to have more structure than the other new ones. You are slim and maybe draping a whole dress is not the best look for you. I know that I can't do a draped dress, thinking of the dozens I tried looking for a Mother of Groom one.

I was planning to be passing an Allsaints store on Thursday or Friday and to try on the Halcion dress. Which is violet and has less folding in the front. It's so hard to tell how Allsaints stuff is going to fit when it has all the draping going on.

Love 1 and 5. 5 is a a bit conventional, but nr 1 is Oh, wow-and to my eyes suits your rebelious persona better, and I like it on you even better then on the model! I think the color is also great(if olive), it can be dressed up with a bit of bling (or say with a red sandal, or animal pump?) and will surely be a nice change in all the sea of blacks, there.

Thanks everyone. I tend to agree -- I was disappointed in these dresses. I think they need quite a bit of fuss to make them hang just so. Playing with different sizes, pressing, and while you're wearing it, making sure it doesn't flash your chest. I would have to tack the Isa dress so I don't flash one entire breast! It comes open that easily.

The last two dresses hang completely differently from the picture. I do think these dresses are made for a long-waisted, straight built IT. I think all three of them are too long in the waist, making them pull around the hip even more. I could try the first dress in a bigger size. Under the arm, quite a bit of bra was already showing in this size (a six, Euro 38 UK 10). However, to get the dress to hang better around the hips, I might just try the next size up, if it's available.

I think I missed the return window on the TT dress, good thing you all like it, I like it too. I have some ideas how to make it more modern.

ETA -- Just ordered the Isa dress in a size 8, it promises next day shipping through Amazon Prime but in my experience it takes about 3 or 4 days to my address. I think I'm just going to return the other three dresses, I didn't show you the back side of the Isa dress but it looks like I need more room there.

Good grief this brand does nothing to stroke my ego, I mean I'm 5'4" and 113-115 lbs and I thought you all were very kind not to point out how big these make me look! I'm probably too curvy for this brand but we'll see how the bigger size works.

Wow, I really thought these would work but I prefer the purple. AS fit can be really bizarre - I tried a couple at the store and felt they had no leeway. It's like they were made for a specific person (not me!) and not for a lot of body types. They also ran small. Too bad because I love the idea for you. It's not you AT ALL!

Late here but I love #1. Looks like you could style it so many ways and it absolutely makes your eyes and face "pop". You look fab.

I know the purple one was budget friendly so maybe keep it too?

Denise, it is not you AT ALL. You look amazing -- you look how I *wish* I did (yeah, I've got the 3" extra inches in height, but also the 30 extra pounds, about 10 of which I'd rather not have). I think you are totally correct about the cut of these dresses. They don't get you.

The TT really does look nice on you. I am curious to see your styling of it, because I'm betting you can make it look rockin'! I'm thinking funky peep-toe booties, leather jacket, or a great bracelet...

# 5 is still the fabbest, and #1 looks like you and worth keeping if it feels and fits right. I don't think the olive is too harsh--and it pairs nicely with tans and creams or brighter summer colors. The pale ones remind me of hospital gowns! ( You'd look like the fabbest patient, though). Who'da thunk? Glad you tried them.

Funny how first impressions can change. After coming back to see what everyone thought and what you thought, I see the potential issue with #1. I wonder if a hidden snap could be added? But for me, if I have to do too much for an item of clothing to work, I usually end up regretting the purchase. I do have one black top that I just use fashion tape to secure so it doesn't flash and that one is still okay with me but not a favorite.
