K/R - black ankle pants

Sorry for the terrible photos -- we're renting a house that has no mirrors (!), so I'm stuck using Photo Booth for now.

These are Harper Fit Cropped Pants from BR, in a size 0P. Tried the regular length (0 an 00) in store and the crotch was kind of droopy in a weird too-long-a-rise way.

Overall these are comfortable, but maybe the petite length is too short? What do you think?

I'm also hesitating on these because of the way the legs bunch up (maybe due to the fact that they're lined?). Does that bother you, looking at these? Other thoughts?

I think the length and shape of the leg is great on you. I do agree that the bunching up on this particular pair is not great, and for that reason I think you can do better. It's kind of strange, isn't it?

They look nice but maybe they don't have enough room for your calves?
I also have pants that bunch up when I stand up from my desk and it's a pain to have to pull down the leg openings all the time.

So many of my pants do this bunching thing -- but sometimes wearing them a bit stretches them just enough so they don't do it the same way. These look great on you and I think it is more about the *feel* -- will they drive you nuts or not?

I personally don't care for the bunching; that would make me feel really unpolished. As for the length, I usually look at what I'll be wearing the pants with and check out the proportions. If you want to wear the pants with untucked tops, a longer length might create more pleasing proportions. If you want to tuck, then shorter might work better. Also be sure when you're checking the proportions to wear the pants with the shoes you'll be using, because that can make a world of difference.

I see the bunching. I hadn't even realized this was a thing. Although the length seems perfect for you, I vote return due to the bunching. I think you can do better.

Now that you've mentioned the bunching I can't unsee it... I don't know if I would have noticed otherwise. I would probably return them because of that issue. Does it feel strange?

It's funny -- I'd always been taught to buy wool trousers only with a full lining, because the lining helps them "hang better". I think with slim/skinny fits this may not be as true, because the lining seems to get "stuck" between the outer layer and my leg. They're perfectly comfortable, the best I've found fit-wise, but aesthetically I think it would drive me bonkers. I'm wondering if the predominance of slim fits over classic trousers is why I'm seeing so many unlined wool pants nowadays.

If I were brave and/or really in love with these, I'd try cutting the lining out, because I bet they'd hang better without it. Unfortunately the leg on the 2P is just as skinny as on the 0, only the waist/hips are larger, so going up a size doesn't help either.

I have the same pants but they don't do that bunching. Maybe there is something wrong with the lining in this particular pair, did you try other pair in the same size?
