Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Keep or Return: Cream dress & what shape am I?

Password: youlookfab

Here is a picture of me wearing more fitted clothes so you can see my general shape and maybe perceive whether the dress is a good fit or not?? :http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy160/agrace_2009/SDC10236.jpg

Back in same outfit: http://i787.photobucket.com/al.....C10240.jpg

The picture of me in the dress is not very clear at all. The dress is a very heavy tweed, it is from Target, you can see the dress here: http://tinyurl.com/ydnks74
(I think it is waaay cuter in person, perhaps some of you saw it. It truly looks like something much more expensive than it is but alas...)

I am not so sure it is cute on me though, front:

While we are at it - I think I am an hourglass with pear tendencies...am I right?

Thanks everyone!

You look very hourglassy to me. The dress is cute, but I think you could do better.

I think you look like an hourglass. The dress is cute but needs some jazzing up for it to really work for me.

Welllll....I don't really know how to jazz it up. The lines of it make it hard to wear with much frankly which is a good reason to return it. I just love cream and I love tweed and I like some 'Mad Men' style dresses and thought this fit that bill. However, I am having a hard time figuring out how I would even wear the darn thing! More importantly, I'm not so sure it is figure flattering!

agrace,

I actually like this dress on you in both color and style and for 19.99 you can't go wrong. Don't send it back just yet ..it has potential I think:)

So ,for future summer wear I would put it with red shoes and jewlery or go for a black and white look, throw a black cardi over it add a skinny belt and black pumps... or add any jewel tone...It is a blank canvas at this point. You could dress it for fall.... but it just says spring or summer to me.

Taylor, Thank you for the ideas. The only bummer part is that it has a braided waist which makes it impossible to belt lest I want to look 10 MORE pounds heavier. I actually only paid $10 for it at the store so I don't feel too bad money-wise but I'm tired of buying things on sale and never wearing them.

I love your ideas though! I had the idea of pairing it with tights and peep toes but it sooo heavy that I am just not sure it will work. Alas, it may be for a tall thin woman.

But it was under $10....

I don't much like the dress on you. I think maybe the waistline isn't quite in the right spot and that is essential on that style of dress

I think the dress has promise. Maybe you can dye it?

An hourglass for sure! Nice to see you post pictures :0)

Is the white dress for a special occasion?

I agree, you seem rather hourglassy to me! The dress is cute, but I agree with anne; the waistline seems like it's not quite right somehow. But if you really do like it, I can assure you the people here at YLF can give you great ideas for accessorizing it!

I agree that you seems hourglass.

Really love the dress! It looks perfect! Don't dye it! A white dress is lovely all year long!

Angie, It is not for a special occassion....but the more I look at it I can only see it working for special occassions and church.

It is just such a heavy material, almost too heavy, too feel very versatile. I was hoping to pair it with opaque dark tights and peep toes this winter perhaps but I am not so sure.

I'm getting the vibe I should return it...is that the direction the general population is going?

Thank you everyone!

Cute dress! I would keep it for spring and wear it with red shoes and a skinny black belt, or a cardigan and flats.

It looks like a Summer frock, agrace. I’d return it.
