I found this new-with-tags Brooks Brothers blazer for $2 (half price on yellow tickets day) at the Good Will. It feels like a perfect fit and is an Italian light weight wool in a brown and cream hounds tooth plaid with cream silk lining. Question: Does it deserve a spot in my closet? Does it look too masculine? Does it look dated? Shown open and buttoned.
Shown with BR cream jeans, leopard booties and belt and chocolate EF silk long sleeved tee. Your thoughts are appreciated, Also styling ideas if you think I should keep it. My eyes are dark brown.

I think it looks classic. Are the sleeves too long? I like them rolled up, but would you consider having them shortened? For $2, you got quite a deal!

I should have snapped a photo of the sleeves unrolled. I think that they are a good length. With my arm straight down they just cover the knuckle at the base of the thumb.

What a lovely jacket and a steal at that price! I think it is worth at least trying to create some outfits with it. I like it with what you are wearing-- can you create one or two other outfits with it?

Jenny, I think that it will look best with pants so I will try blue jeans and dark brown Ponte knit jeans. My cream trousers are really oversized but may work. For tops under it I have an ivory she'll and buttondown silk shirt, a leopard patterned top with browns and I think that yellow and coral may also work. I have a dark brown pencil skirt that might work.

Wow, $2 for a BB NWT silk lined blazer. Hard to pass up. The fit looks good, except I can't tell about the sleeves.

It doesn't scream modern but not dated either, it's classic. Pairing it with those super trendy animal print booties is a good way to work it!

I say keep, color is great on you.

Retail girl, light blue is a great idea and one I had not thought of. This may be a wardrobe hole but one I'd love to fill as it could work with other problem pieces.

I'd certainly keep it! For my WAH lifestyle, I'd toss it on over jeans and a silky T with boots all winter. Fits you very well -- what a find!

OMG! I am in LOVE with this Joy. It has such a classic, masculine (not cropped) cut and the fabrication is making me positively swoon. Houndstooth? Silk lining? Catch me someone. It seems to fit you really well. I'm imagining this mixing happily with more obvious prints like animal prints. Wow. i'd say you got a deal. If you change your mind, send it to me, lol!

Yes, or even just a scarf! BTW I shouldn't have used the word masculine to describe it, since you were worried about it looking "too masculine". I should have said schoolboy. I wonder when it was made? It doesn't look dated to me at all.

Laura, I have broad shoulders, a blazer always seems to emphasize. I've stopped thinking about it but maybe I should pay attention. I'm glad that you think it works .

Claire, I'm wondering the same thing. The one button closure and new condition with hang tag and packet of spare buttons, and pockets all still sewn shut make me think it can't be very old. There is even an interior pocket. I love the tailoring and workmanship.
