Here's my response to the capsule wardrobe challenge (I photographed my Friday outfit today, so I'm a little early.)

Monday and Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday and Friday

My capsule included the following -
Clothes:
1. Fuchsia Express V-neck sweater
2. Deep purple Express button-down shirt
3. Denim Ann Taylor pencil skirt (sorry for the wrinkles.)
4. Black and white Express pencil skirt
5. Black Esprit sheath dress
6. Purple and fuchsia patterned Sweet Pea top
7. Teal Express button-down blouse
8. Armani Exchange denim moto jacket
9. Black Clarks Cone Sweet booties
10. Red CL by Laundry patent leather pumps

Accessories:
1. Fuchsia handbag
2. Orange belt from Target
3. Bronze necklace from Ann Taylor
4. Floating pearl necklace from Express
5. Black patent belt

I love your outfits! You were very smart to pick red shoes! When I look at back at my outfits, I feel like they look a bit too similar. A bright colored shoe in a completely different color would have solved the problem.

Kari, you did so well! I love all the purple and blue and red. You look so good in teal! My favourite is the day 2 outfit, the bow is just super-cute!

The one thing I was really left wishing for was a brighter neutral cardi like a cascading cardigan. And more pattern or printed tops. I almost threw in the express skirt in the mix :-)There was too much black going on in my outfits. Oh well, next time!

These are great outfits! I like how you planned to make pieces seem different like hiding the blouse ties, doubling the necklace, and turning the top into a bubble top with the help of the belt. Very creative!
Luv your selection of hosiery. I need to invest in some more. That would have helped my outfits.

Thanks, Bella - I worried at first that red shoes may have been locking me in color-wise, but eventually I decided I'd just make them work with the colors I had.
I can't wait to see your full capsule outfits.

LOP, thank you - I'm glad I didn't look too much like a "Red Hat Society" lady with red and purple. It was a challenge to try to pair those colors in a different way and I had fun trying.

Mmm, Vani, I think you really made your black moto jacket work well as a centerpiece for many of your outfits. I didn't feel overwhelmed with black at all when I looked at your outfits, and I thought your week was lovely and quite colorful. This time around, I just enjoyed trying to incorporate patterns and bright colors for an added challenge to my own wardrobe.

AJ, thank you - I have just started branching out to try to "disguise" many of my staple pieces and use them in different ways. I'm not sure if I'd do this all the time, like tucking in the ties on the pussycat bow blouses, but it's good to know that I have the option when my wardrobe is strapped.
Your week was awesome - I love what a genius you are with layering unusual pieces together!

I love your week. I especially think you used color beautifully. They are a bit of a departure from your usual colors. Lovely. I think you did a great job of implementing the hot purple/red combo, too. I wonder myself how to avoid the red hat lady syndrome, but I think you've done it well. Key is wearing clothes with a modern feel, which you did in spades.

Marianna, the Sweet Pea top was at the Nordstrom Rack. It was about $9. It's actually kind of an odd style - very open on the shoulders and cut close to the neck, and nearly tunic-length - so if I wore it without something on top, I'd need to wear a strapless bra. But I love that it works well for layering.

Thank you Alecia, Louise, and Taylor! I had a blast wearing colors that were a bit different from my norm, and yes, the denim AT skirt is absolutely an essential staple within my wardrobe.

By the way, the black Clarks are the booties that are in the YLF store, and I know they are still available. I *think* they are also on sale currently at the Clarks store (if you visit a brick-and-mortar store & don't just go through their Zappos-powered website.)

The red CL by Laundry pair is a couple years old, but I believe that this is the updated version of that shoe.

oooh thanks for that Kari - I had a pair of Chinese Laundry shoes YEARS ago and really liked them, so its no surprise I like those red ones then LOL

Will have to see if I can find something similar to them both over here in Aus...

Oh wow! I love your capsule wardrobe and that you took a risk in your colour combinations! You can converted me over to purple and red together. Your capsule also really shows how well pussy bow blouse add femininity to a LBD and other structured clothes.

Thanks, Dawn! I fell in love with that color combination throughout the challenge week too - although I'd ready to wear different colors next week.
It was fun to rely on pussycat bow blouses as an alternative tol scarves to add a bit of feminine flair/detail around my neck.
