Just say no June - who's in?

I know Laura mentioned a break from shopping, and I as well. I did get the olive shorts yesterday, but found them in May and merely delayed buying until June . . . does anyone buy that?? Well, that's my story LOL. No more for the month.
I got a good influx of things in May and should be set for most the summer really, but know I will at least have the itch so am only cutting myself off for this month to start with. I will take July as it comes.
Interestingly, I'm finding myself in more seasonal shopping patterns lately. I never did that before but think I will work it in to future plans. I can foresee buying more in say, January, May and September, and cutting back the month or two following each of those. Working in the little surges seems better than not planning for them and then having to cut yourself off for a month or two.
So now it's time to get in there and wear what I've got. I will say this year has been better than others in wearing what I've bought. I must be shopping smarter and more in season both Yay.

YES! I am trying to buy a house and the budget is going to be tight! I over-spent a bit in May so I am definitely on board for a Just Say No June!!

I'm in! I already bought so many of the things I wanted for summer and have plenty of practically new things from last year - so there is no good reason to be shopping more this month.

I'm in! I have a bunch of stuff on its way to me but there will be no more purchases for June. I have revamped my wardrobe with help from Angie and after pregnancy. I am well set and need time to allow my style persona to settle and discover wardrobe holes (if any).

Alright, I put it out in public. Hopefully it will make it easier to stick to it.

Me too - I'm completely sorted for summer. I doubt I will actually wear everything more than a couple of times before the cool weather comes back. And I overspent in the spring months as well.

Sooooo not in. I love 2014 Spring fashion. And am purchasing in June - within my set budget of course - till the cows come home. So, so fun. Spring will probably never be as good again for my style persona. It makes me think that Fall fashion might be a bit of a disappointment. But I REALLY hope not because it's my dominant season.

That said, I always look forward to the NAS. I have a HECTIC client schedule the week of preselections. The busiest ever, and it's all booked up. 14 hour days. Exhausting, but very fun. I'm always in for the fun-factor.

In the meantime, I will join in wearing the heck out of our fab clothes.

I want to be on board, but I know I will need a few more tees and a pair of sandals when my feet swell out of these. I just don't know when that will be.

Still, I will stop enabling for the month of June!

as sandals go on sale in July,and there are so many great styles this season, and I do not have all the styles, it is NOt going to be easy for me to resist. I may get some just at knee bottoms if I find something on sale, and definitely look into getting a good boxy jacket as Angie suggested. One thing the petite selection not as big as regular, but finding the right "short" will not be as easy. I did try on a couple and they looked so big and boxy but that is a problem to fit my big upper!

Una, I hear you. I bought some gear this spring; it was time. It'd been 4 years or so. And I don't count that against my items limits, although it does go in the dollar budget. It's an investment in yourself, really, right?
Angie, I wouldn't expect you to take shopping bans in general, especially in a season you are so excited about! Some of us mere mortals have a harder time being smart with our shopping lol.

Well, I just ordered something from Talbot's so June may not be pristine.

I do think I should be a "nibbler" and plan for that. Buy in or close-to season/
Try to avoid buying a whole lot at once and then say, I'm set for summer ( or any season).
I continue to be surprised that brands or stores still bring out seasonal items over time within the season. Like dresses, for example!

So you really haven't seen a good range of the options "before" a season. I wonder if this is more true now than before, or is just my perception?

Goal is to continue getting more selective, work new items in as soon as possible with existing pieces
This works for me due to working in "seasonless" indoor environment and having the same persona for all seasons, so I'm not doing some huge shift,but just work in items that skew spring, summer, fall, winter due to color or fabrics while continuing a lot of the same base items.

so, we have 2 definite not ins with Angie, Suz, a not enabling for June hee hee , one cryptic non committal LOL, and 2 explaining their plans to continue to shop? I count 9 of us 'in' with Susie's purchases already on the way not counting.
I'm hoping to see it as a break to take a better look at what I recently acquired and how it does get integrated and worn with what I've got (and how often). Rather than as a punishment or what I can't do (shop).

Count me in. I sorted out my spring/summer wardrobe a tad early this year, due to a trip with DH in May to a warm climate. My spring/summer wardrobe is set (or at least it should be) for now. Of course I see plenty of things I want to purchase, but I've been trying for so long (and so hard) to purge my closet this past year, I don't want to loose the momentum now. I keep telling myself I can do a bigger overhaul of my wardrobe next year, if I purchase less items this year.

a bit OT - but it always strikes me how the general challenge for people is to buy LESS. For me, YLF has really helped me to think about shopping in practical terms so that now i can see that when i've worn one jacket 3-5 times per week every week for over ten years it is actually prudent to have a handful of garments which can fill this purpose instead of just one.

So i'll be cheering you all on! But i'll also be purchasing a few items which will be staple wardrobe workhorses (white tee, striped tee, khaki jacket) as well as sewing a couple of dramatically sized linen skirts (a lifesaver in our 90-100+F summers).

I believe it speaks very well to this forum that it brings us all towards a degree of moderation, from whatever our own extremes may be. Happy Day!! steph

I'm in. I received some items I ordered online, and with the successful white gladiator sandals and my refreshed swimwear capsule, I'm in excellent shape for the summer. I even bought another cycling outfit yesterday because I've been riding enough that my once-a-week laundry schedule cannot keep up.

I'm pretty sure I'm done until NAS.

I am in too! It is winter here and I am well stocked for my needs.

I agree I like to have a small burst if shopping then a break to consolidate, try and get good wear from the clothes, and then another small burst.

You know I'm in! I keep on realizing how much I like to shop/browse as a hobby. I've had two trips to various stores/malls since I pledged SYC here and didn't buy anything, but it felt kinda pointless since I knew I wouldn't. Kinda need to take a break - actually since it looks like we're gonna get our house I can replace it with looking for furniture and house stuff!

Unfrumped, I think you're right - there is less of "everything gets put out at the beginning of a shopping season" happening in stores, and more gradual transitions. Probably to get us coming back all the time.
