It's hard to focus on my shopping needs when I basically shop five times a week!

Two months ago, I started working in a clothing store. I'm surrounded by cute clothes; I see the new stuff right away; I see when it goes on sale. Plus I get a discount! I have tried to keep my impulses in check, but it is hard! I have to remind myself, just because it's cute, and on sale, and here, doesn't mean you should buy it. It's not on your list! I am trying to make a fall/winter list and stick to it. Does anyone else work with clothing? It's tough!

I worked across the street from the Galleria Mall in Houston. Most days I walked through Lord and Taylor to go to lunch. Yes, it was hard!

Sounds like a dream job--ha ha!
I work in a sewing machine store. Hence, I have your problem, but with sewing machines instead of clothes. When I first went to work there, my new coworkers asked, "what machines do you have?" As in machines, plural. I had one. Now I have machines, plural.

I have been there too! My previous office was in the biggest mall in this city. I was the designer at a German furniture brand and also handled the store for walk-ins. I was surrounded by top brands, I knew all SAs by name, I got the 1st call when things went on sale, and I shopped pretty much everyday. It was so so hard! Thankfully I moved into a regular office soon enough. My husband couldn't have been happier! He stated 'Atleast you'll have a salary now'. Apparently, I was spending most of what I was earning! Good times.....sigh.

I used to work in what I believe is / was the largest shopping complex in the Southern Hemisphere! I didn't work in fashion but for the group that owned the complex. I shopped every lunchtime... not self control what so ever. I'm better now lol

I'd love to be able to do that! Lol.

I do volunteer work at a second-hand and local design, all-for-charity with mostly shoes and accessories, as well as art and jackets. I suppose I'm lucky my feet are too small to fit any of the shoes in there, otherwise I think my closet would have doubled by now. Possibly the only good thing about oddly sized feet!

Ha, I'm enjoying everyone's stories. My version: When my family's restaurant first opened in 2009 I just HAD to have some treats from the deep fryer, every single day. The deep fryer is this miracle commercial cooking device that not only cooks things quickly but also makes everything delicious. The French Fries, The Kettle Chips, The Sweet Potato Fries, The Onion Rings... The Chicken Tenders. You name it. We've even made Beignets in the fryer. I think I gained 10 lbs that year. I've since learned to restrain myself but a few French Fries have still been known to go missing under my watch...

I live in an apartment that's sandwiched between 2 of the nicest malls in Mumbai and yes it's SOOOOOO difficult!
I end up there every weekend for something or the other and it's IMPOSSIBLE to ever come back home without a bunch of shopping bags - it's either too cute, or it's something new & I haven't seen before, or it's so practical or whatever....there's always an excuse in my mind for shopping... my husband's heart sinks at the time of sales, it's a never ending thing and I've just learned to make my peace with it!
Bye bye salary...hello gorgeous things!

Yes, I have been where you are and it is terrible. The temptation is so bad. I think the only thing worse would be to work in a jewelry store.

During college breaks and right after graduation I worked in a department store. I bought everything. Now that I 'know better' I would like to think I would shop smarter, but the temptation of the sale plus discount is really so overwhelming I think I would not be able to resist. Stay strong!
