Naturally, this is not a coat I actually own. The price is way beyond my range, but I just find it breathtaking. I guess I'm hoping someone will point out its flaws so I can stop thinking about it...

OK, someone needs to step up and help April out...

April: I hate to tell you, but this coat is hideous! There is absolutely no way you should ever wear it. It would make you look like a professional equestrian, which we all know is synonymous with a woman of ill repute. Wearing it would ruin your reputation as a refined lady of taste. If you want to go in that direction, OK, I'll allow you to get a lower back tattoo, or some piercings, or wear clothes that show tons of cleavage...but you CAN'T GET THIS COAT! Cross it off your list now, so you don't suffer unnecessarily.

I need someone ruthlessly clear-headed to tell me why I DO NOT want that coat. Either of those coats. Where is Maya?

I'll give it a go? It's a lot of detailing right on the hips and waist, and close to each other. I think they should've picked one pocket detail and gone with that, instead of doing both. Too busy. Also, the way the collar is half leather makes it less versatile and more sort of 80s-trendy in a way.

Just kidding, it's gorgeous. But I tried!

Ah, Dashrashi -- you did try and I thank you.

Sadly, the hip detailing is good for me because I could use a little exaggeration in that area. But I hear what you're saying about the busy-ness and the collar. I only noticed the collar was leather when I saw it on the website, not when it called out to me from the pages of the paper catalogue, and it is something to consider.

Maybe I can give up thoughts of this coat by reminding myself that the leather collar is bad vegan karma...

Why don't you save it on a bookmark on your web browser, and decide how much you would be willing to spend on it? Then, check the bookmark every week or so and see if it comes down in price. If it never does or is unavailable in your size, it wasn't meant to be, and you can spend the money you would have been willing to spend on it on a "substitute" jacket that has similar quality or details... the idea is similar to what some magazines might feature: a "steal" and a "splurge" item that share a style or characteristics... so we just need to find you a "steal" jacket!

Sorry to enable you, but let's put that desire for the jacket to work!

LE -- Thank you for bringing me from the realm of a mental tantrum over the cost of the coat, to a plan of action that might actually get it into my hands at a price I could live with. The worst that could happen is that this particular coat never comes down in price, and I find a reasonable substitute. A very sane plan. Thank you!
