I wish I could PM you because I'm seriously starting to wonder if i might be right down the street and I'd LOVE to invite you over!

Right?! I think we have notes to compare!

Oh wait. I'm getting all love-festy and Happy Bunny at the same time. I think you're talking to me. Don't disillusion me...

This is coming too:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271846.....EBIDX%3AIT

but it is super-ultra-mega campy and equally super-ultra-mega-practical.

"Jesus loves you, but whataboutsocialization while you're shovelling that manure and simultaneously reviewing those first declension Latin verbs, ma'am?"

I don't think I should wear it outside the house, but it will keep the pretty one from getting stained and torn before its time and me from being in too much pain from constricting waistbands to be able to get the SYC boxes down and sorted.

This is Hipster 2.0 fab in my neck of the woods. Lol. It's what you'd wear to go out for pizza you had to make reservations to eat. That is too funny!! I saw it and was all *now that's high style.* Hahahaha! Eye of the beholder.

Isn't it? One of my most embarassing fashion faux pas was when I had to buy a pair of glasses online.

I hate and despise glasses, but my eye doctor refused to give me a prescription for bifocal contacts, reading glasses, or anything that didn't make me completely illiterate and unable to thread a needle and you can't order contacts without a doctor's prescription--or I, Ethel personally, haven't figured out how to anyway.

I was so angry that i deliberately chose the ugliest frames I could find.

They're hipster glasses--Baby Agnes' parents would be so jealous!

I'm such a dork.

I thought of this thread when I saw these underwear on the gap website.

I think the trick is to be so young, thin, beautiful and graceful that you can even make a denim jumpsuit or granny panties hot.

I also think about this when I pull on my tencel jogging pants with elastic waist and leg bands. I swear these are the exact pants my mom wore and I detested in 1988 because they did absolutely nothing for her.

All rambling aside, I have a few different denim jumper type outfits and I think that without the hair, blank expression, and shoes of a commune girl, you'd be fine.

Fun thread! I'm a homeschooling Christian mom. And a former pastor's wife (kept the man, but he changed his job). I know exactly the connotations you're referring to! My solution has been to wear......leather. Ladylike leather, but leather nonetheless.

Hey, if I can wear leather amongst the homeschool set, and they can accept me (and some of them like it), I'm sure your social set can learn to accept your style, too! If not, I'm sure there's a homeschool coop in your area that you could hang out with. Just remember to take a gluten free dish to the potluck, and be prepared to say the Pledge and pray before you eat!

Eth - you must tell us what you're supposed to wear... for fun and games, but also to know what flies and doesn't.

I mean there are some places you don't go about alone in tie-dye and some places you don't go about alone in khakis. Not if you want to come out again with your iPad, anyways (!)

Beth Ann - Haha! Go put your kerchief on!

I'm in the Northeast and homeschooled my kids for fifteen years (youngest graduating from university with honors tomorrow!) and I absolutely would be judgy about a denim jumper. I have a visceral reaction to them. Way too many homeschool assocations for me.

I'm with peg-jumpers are sweaters where I come from, so I was very confused!
how about what my grandma would have called a house frock?
