Inspiration....Gone with the wind fabulous

I heard this term used by one of those house wives reality shows. Although I don't watch them. The lady twirled in the dress she wa wearing and she said "gone with the wind fabulous " hahahahahaha

So many things give me inspiration. I'm on a long staycation and I get to explore my fashion inspiration and style choices even more. This gives me time to read and research.

I found this skirt recently on my Facebook news feed. I loved the fullness and the casual way it was styled. I loved the plaid and the denim mix. What I did not love is the price. Sometimes I really wished I was not so cheap. I mean so frugal or economically safe. I just have other goals. For my $$$$$$. Like living, eating and paying the car note. #squadgoals #retirement.

So Beyoncé has this hyped up extended video album called Lemonade. It debuted on HBO this past weekend. I'm not a Queen Bey fan if she is on the radio I'll listen to her. I'm more apt to listen to her sister Slonage' that young lady is pretty much everything in fashion choices and music to me.

Anywho, I'm going to a viewing party of the Lemonade musical and then a women's discussion afterwards to discus the who what when and the whys of the collage of videos Bey has done. We call these talks sister talks or sisters circles. Which is the main reason I'm going. The group of women are educated and prolific when it comes to in depth discussion and self awareness. Plus their fashions choices are everthing. All roads lead to style. The last time we got together we had Theifters Tea a few months back.
Anyway I'm gonna do a budget look of this skirt. I included a picture I snatched from the blog Rachylou has because it was so inspiring.
Lots and lots of photos to include the stylish women I'm going to be hanging with this Wednesday night.

i love the skirt for you, it's very punk era Westwood to my eye with a dose of cowboy for good measure. I know you will be able to replicate this skirt, I trust your upcycling ability.

I could spend all day looking at the fashion choices of your Sister Circle, they sound like such a vivacious group.

I love that skirt and now I want one. I don't normally like skirts but I really like that style. Have you thought about getting someone to make it for you if you showed it to a tailor? You would need to find a whole lot of tartan skirts at the op shop and then get a seamstress to put it all together...It might work out cheaper that way.

Also your friends have great style...I love the photos of them.

Roseandjoan I could see this looking like a Vivian W. Skirt. The group has such varied taste and fashion. They really remind me of YLF in the flesh.

Sally the skirt is great. I've been purchasing them all winter that is from the op shop. I've thought about it. The skirt is $98 U.S. While not that expensive to some I just don't want to invest the $$$. I have a similar style skirt in grey and maroon in plaid. It is so,full and I'm thinking I can recreate the denim pockets in a creative way. I have a couple of fits (outfits). Being made so I don't want to overextend myself. Thanks for the suggestion it is greatly appreciated.

Love the idea of the sister circle. I'm over Beyoncé and her husband myself, though. The skirt is so Vivian Westwood! I adore that style and wish Allsaints had continued in this vein. You could also add a stiff petticoat underneath to get the full skirt effect.

And I have to say you do not need to be apologetic about your budget choices....you should be proud of them. We all have different circumstances and need to live with the hand we are dealt. Moving to a different card game is not always possible or a goal everyone wants. Being fiscally responsible and planning to take care of yourself is really just being an adult..... plus it makes you more creative which is a GOOD thing!

I wasn't sure about the skirt until I saw it on and it is great. It looks stiff but on it looks soft and flowy. Waiting for your take.

I am all for deconstructing/upcycling existing closet items. You have such a good eye I bet you could do an excellent DIY version.

Can you post a pic of the skirt you have? Maybe pimp it up with pieces of a plaid shirt (easily thrifted) and some lightweight denim/chambray?

I like the plaid and brocade in pic #2. Your circle of sisters all look amazing.

Thank you Diane I love our get togethers we creat events for ourselves. It is so much fun. Because we are all from different walks of life. Mothers wives, single in transition, empty nesters.

Appropriate I'm decided to wait until this weekend so I can style it right. But I promise to post pictures.

Thank you for all of your wonderful support and responses. I've decided to wait until Saturday to put the fit together. I did not want to rush greatness. I decided to do a hippie look. I'll post more pictures and do a write up later.
