I may have mentioned it a little, but not the full story of how we decided on our first tattoos, so here it is.

So the hubz and I are super huge sci-fi geeks.
We had tons of nerdy references in our wedding ceremony. One of them was a
phrase from the tv show Battlestar Galactica: the officiant said “may the force
be with you” (Star Wars) and all in attendance responded with “so say we all”
(BSG) It’s also representative (to us) of our very unique relationship, in that
we do LITERALLY everything together, talk about everything and decide
everything jointly, and are pretty much one inseparable unit. The phrase is
used in BSG as an ending to a prayer, like Amen (loosely meaning “so be it”),
or sometimes after a speech as a verbal affirmation that everyone is in
agreement with what has been said or decided.

When we were forming our record label a couple years ago and
debating names, a good friend – guitarist from a now defunct band I was in – suggested that phrase
as a name, and we liked it. We took the first letters of each word (SSWA) and
wrote it as a chemical compound (which doesn’t actually exist) but had to use
Al (that’s an L) because there is no element in the periodic table that is just
“A” so the made up element is Disulfide Tungsten Aluminum and that image became
our logo.

Side note of interest: all our label releases are assigned
an element from the periodic table. The most recent release (the band we went
to Nashville for this past weekend, and the drummer for said band is who inked
us) was assigned carbon because it is the most “metal” of the elements with 6
protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons, and they are a really heavy
metal/hardcore band.

We are thinking that our next tattoo will be on our right
wrists, showing the date of our ceremony (8-13-11) using the corresponding
element boxes from the periodic table.

And later we might do some Star Trek and Star Wars
references, since those are mine and his favorite sci-fi franchises
respectively. Maybe the ships Enterprise and Milennium Falcon lol

So anyway, that’s the story
