Ingunn's Challenge: Week 2 - YouLookFab Forum

Ingunn, some days were quite challenging for me this week. I did not do them in order but managed something for each day from the challenge this week.
1: Full skirt outfit. This is about as full as it gets..A-line rather than a pencil skirt.
2/3: Dress over pants and a long cardigan over that. Under the sweater dress is a brown lace tee.
4-6: patterned/colored tights. This is also a grey out. I wanted to brighten it up so added a bunch of necklaces. Too much?
7/8: animal print ( top and belt). The top is sheer so I wore it over a long sleeved grey and black striped tee. The animal print in both top and belt is grey/black/blue.
9/10: Winter white. I have on a very pale grey chambray shirt under the sweater. I should have gotten a photo of this outfit topped by a winter white alpaca cardigan and grey-white nubby scarf.
Your comments and suggestions for improvements are much appreciated. Nothing in these photos is new this season. If there are items that, next closet edit, should be donated or kept or replaced, please let me know your thoughts. Are these sweater dresses too short for me worn as shown?

I don't think the dresses are too short at all. They look great with the tights/pants and boots. The white out look is amazing!

Oh I like the challenge. Wish I'd seen it earlier in the month. Your outfits are great. You look especially chic and hip in 7&8 and 9&10. I think I'd prefer 4-6 with only one necklace—either the pendant or the gray pearls/beads. That would focus attention on the clothes and you.

Joy, you look terrific. Love your grey out and do not think it is too many necklaces. You are as stunning in that monochromatic look as you are in white out. Wow!

Sweater dresses do not look too short to me with tights.

Do the grey Tsubo booties with the polkadot tights look too wide at the top? First booties I ever bought

Nicely done Joy. My favourite is the white out. I too struggled with this week... Too many skirts/dresses for our weather I think. And I can't do dress over pants, I just can't. So bonus points to you for getting them all in!

Elizabeth, that is exactly it...lots of dresses or skirts called for and bitter temperatures. My "pants" under a dress are really my version of leggings...close fitting woven pants with a little stretch. They are what make these sweater dresses wearable at all for me, and even then I wonder if I'm kidding myself that the look works. I didn't think I had any colored or patterned tights until I found the pair I have on. They were a gift.

I think slim pants and shorter wider dresses are key to make dress over pants work - at least one of the better alternatives. The very fashion forward ones will probably be wearing flared pants and dresses soon. I love to see your interpretations of this challenge so far, Joy, and I love to see you in both monochromatic (white, grey) outfits and in the dresses and skirts.

Dresses and climate: I live in a cold climate, too, and I actually find that I wear a lot more dresses in the deep of winter than in fall. I think it is because I can layer two pairs of tights if I need to, but I hate wearing hose or tights under my trousers - not to mention the jeans. I have a pair of black wool tights that I layer over my regular tights for my commute, which I quickly remove at work. This makes creating a comfortable indoor outfit a lot easier for me in winter.
