Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

In need of inspiration!

I am *still* suffering from jet lag. This is the worst I've ever experienced. I just can't seem to get back on a normal sleep schedule. So I am operating on very little sleep, and my brain is pretty much fried and moving in slo-mo.

I need your help - be my brain. :-)

I am stumped to come up with an outfit for tonight. Would love suggestions, even if it's "why don't you build an outfit around XX item or XX color theme?"

The occasion: we are going to see a comedy musical tonight. (Yes I'd rather stay at home, but DH wants to see this show, and it'll keep me from dozing off too early). Nothing fancy is required, since it is just a college production. Smart casual is about right. Comfort would be good (maybe ponte knit pants)?

I hear you! I went on a cruise to Alaska this summer and the time change plus constant motion effected me for a good two weeks after we got home.
What are your temps right now?
Could you do ponte pants with boots, a knit top or sweater with a jacket over it?
Do you have a typical go-to outfit? Mine happens to be a tunic dress over skinny jeans and boots right now. Add a statement accessory, and I'm good to go.

Shiny - I don't have any great outfit ideas right now, but I want to ask if you've tried taking melatonin for your jet lag? I take it when I travel and it helps me enormously with shifting sleep schedules.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets jet lag that lasts two weeks.

Temps - high 40s/low 50s... I run hot though. I would be comfortable going out in a blazer and not necessarily need my wool coat yet. Plus, don't think we'll be doing much walking outside.

If I didn't feel like I was run over by a truck, I'd go for a dress tonight. I've been wanting to try black sweater dress, micro fishnets, star ling boots... "ala Angie" .... But I'm thinking the ponte knit pants will be more cozy to match my mood.

Dressing from bottom up, two options:

- gray ponte knits with gray metallic oxford booties;
- black ponte knits with black suede heeled booties

Hmmm... I guess I'm getting somewhere... now just have to choose a blouse and jacket and accessories!

My "go-to" lately is the cream chiffon AT blouse that has a tie neck. It seems to go with everything. I love that blouse. But I've been wearing it too often.

Medusa, does it work when you arrive back home?

I hear viagra also works! But nobody will lend me any...

Shiny - The gray ponte knits with gray metallic oxford booties sound divine. Those get my vote!

I want to second Medusa's melatonin suggestion- it really works. I only take it for trips, and just to get back into normal sleep patterns. Everyone is different, but for me, two nights of taking it got me back on schedule. Easy to get, over the counter in vitamin section.

And with your fantastic wardrobe, I know you'll come up with something cozy and cute!

What about using your blue paisley scarf as an accessory? I love that scarf on you!

Ana, I wore that scarf yesterday!

Hmmm, maybe I will try to wear this coat:

... before too long, it'll be too cold for it. This'll work with the black ponte knit pants and black suede boots, no?

Options, options...

Really? :D

I like that coat! Do you think it would work with teal? Do you have a teal top to wear underneath?

Hmmm... I have a teal cardigan. But, I wore that recently too, with the cream tie-neck top.

If I wear this coat, I will need a cardigan underneath. Maybe plum?

I think I'm going to go with the trusty BF blazer instead - I'm fearing this other coat is too dressy, esp considering we're going to a very laid back place for dinner beforehand. I'll reserve this idea for sometime next week!

Shiny, that coat is GORGEOUS. Combining that with ponte knit pants sounds fantastic.

I have definitely used melatonin when time-adjusting back home. Like sinead, taking it for a couple days gets me back in the right time zone....
